    ... of rain, loud rumbles of thunder and bright flashes of lightening. Pretty scary when you are in a tent but once again it stood up to the elements and was still standing the next morning.
    The following morning was a bit wet and overcast but we decided to head to Biscarosse beach and have a wander around the market stalls which was nice. We had a pasty and an ice cream on the beach and then headed back to the tent. As the day went on it was a lot clearer and warmer so ...

    ... to a beautiful day. Still, warm and sunny so after breakfast we set off along the coastline on our bikes to Arcachon. It's all very beautiful with the beach running the distance and the locals and people of Bordeaux making the most of a beautiful Sunday. Many were already on the beach sunning themselves. We rode about 18 km to get to the end of the cycle lane till you can ride no more and its certainly a playground to enjoy the beach scene. ...

    ... style tomatoes, onions and peppers. Despite the fish and chicken we chose, we absolutely had to have a Bordeaux wine. We took our server's recommendation and weren't disappointed. What was probably and average half-bottle of red wine here turned out to be one of the best I've ever had although to be fair I rarely touch reds...but still. We saved the bottle to take home as a souvenir.

    ... some discussion, and advice that it was only a 15-minute walk, we set off with our baggage and bikes and the airport luggage carts to walk. That was certainly an adventure as we struggled through a couple of ditches and negotiated a couple of roundabouts which were not intended for pedestrians.

    ... update more regularly if I don't become alcoholic..
    The idea is to get into Spain today or tomorrow (depending how many beers I have) and get to explore the Basque Country. It's already apparent, the signs are in Spanish here as well and paella is on the menu in most restaurants - mmmmm!
    Had a lovely chat with Jilly last night and it's looking good for a meet-up soon. She's promised to show me the ropes with the Tapas bars of northern Spain so bring it ...
