... us further south to our destination Maratea in Posetano. Momentarily, we had a couple of doubts until we realized that A30 and A3 were one and the same....whew!

As we continued south, we began to encounter increasingly higher hills with heavy vegitation. Another 30 kms down the road and he freeway began to go through the mountainous terrain rather than around them. We counted 28 fairly lengthy tunnels on our journey south. By the time we were 50 kms south of Naples, we ...

... raving about the marvelous dinner... We called Manuel, who came to take the third chop down for himself. "Oh la-la! This is too much for me.... Are you sure?" He said as he disappeared with the remainder the pork chops pot. By this time, Jacques had devoured all the meat, and sauce on his plate, and moved on to the potatos and salad.... But was not eating at a much slower pace. I had planned bananas foster for dessert, but everyone was too full, so ...

... and one small grocery we went back to the boat. Just off the stern of Milena, friends of Jacques were offering us a cold cup if sangria. Wow, did that taste good, in this all too hot town, behind a huge break wall to the sea. Once on Milena, we all sat down, and shared a liter of cold water, before anyone could think of either preparing or eating lunch. Cold lunch meats, and a Greek-Italian green salad was perfect, as we washed it down with a very mild white ...

... at the table, enjoying my morning coffee, in the bright sunlight, with slight wind, and the sea with only mild surface ripples. Glorious.... "For the moment..." as Marina would say. This "moment" seems to be the story of our entire crossing. With relative ease, all our sails were raised, and we made part of our journey under the power of the wind. By the time we had lunch, our trip was over half way completed. About 30 minutes ...

    Marina di Camerota

A travel blog entry by margaretreilly on Apr 24, 2014

Yesterday left Positano. We took a shuttle to Salerno then picked up a car from Avis. The coast road from Positano to Salerno was truly breathtaking and the driver quite friendly and tried to explain a few sights along the way. Headed south and stopped at some Greek ruins in Paestrum which dated back to BC. Weather a little cold and rainy or we probably would have stayed longer. Took the scenic root to Marina di Camerota. Stopped at Bascillicata and had a late lunch at a little pizzeria. ...
