... and by time we arrived at the refuge, we could just barely glimpse the Pyrenees Mountains. We arrived at our destination before noon, despite our late departure of 8am. The refuge was not so much a refuge as it was the party room in the city hall. There were cots and two tables, and enough open room to play basketball. Unfortunately for us, there was nothing to do in the refuge nor in the very small town. There wasn’t even wifi. We had a lot ...

It was just as beautiful as the photo demonstrates. Slowly, with one foot in front of the ...

I decided to skip breakfast and lay in bed writing until all the other pilgrims left the refuge. When they were gone, around 8am, I got up and met with the hostess, who took me in her camper to Mont de Marsan, about 27km away. Along the way, we had a conversation about why I had decided to ...

... everything on my plate had come straight from a can. We explained to the waitress very carefully that we wanted the salads without meat. Mine arrived without meat, but the architect's still had the meat on his. When he requested a new salad, she literally just took the plate to the back room, pulled off the meat, and returned with the same platter, with the lettuce still wilted from the warmed meat. My companion was not very ...
