... point "toe of the mountain" seems a little more appropriate.
We pull into his house, and his parents wave to greet us from the top deck. A small orchard of peach trees, their summer fruits long finished, nestles up against Carlos house in progress. We walk into his house and are greeted by his parents, Luciano and Piera, and his aunt Thea. Both of his parents are around 80 years old, and Thea is 86, but they have the fitness and mental sharpness of someone twenty years their ...
... br>Italy is best known for its wine. The Piedmont region is especially well known for its reds; Barollo, Dolcetto, and Barabesco. But as I've mentioned before; I have only a rudimentary understanding of wine. I sniff, I sip and I enjoy; but the subtleties are lost on me. I'm a beer drinker.
Drawn by the unique characteristics of the water, the Welf family set up Italy's first brewery in Torino in 1846. The beer of choice here is Menabrea; a blond ...
A day of riding trains, late trains. Again I feel as if I'm missing something as we whiz past quaint towns and bright blue seas. A stop in Nice provides and opportunity to walk along the beach. Despite our proximity to Africa there's still a pretty good surf pounding the beach, almost enough to surf.
I spot another group of travelers, 6 in total, and catch the familiar white and red patch on a bag. Its always nice to run into some fellow ...
... tyre rubbing against the wing evertime we turned right.
What a view as we came in to Switzerland towards Martingz, the town was bathed in sunshine as we emerged from the cloud amongst the seemingly endless Apricot sellers.
It was then that we heard the the WAG'S had arrived in Turin.
Rich was beginning to regret not stretching out after his chariots of fire attempt the previous evening, leghs beginning to seize up from sitting in the back of the pooper, decided ...
We awoke in Dijon to find everything back at normal size - apart from the mini which seemed
to have shrunk despite the deminishing food mountain in the car. Much amusement was had in
the showers following the remnents of our new towels, Richard thought he had some life
threatening disese, well, thought a vital part of his anatomy due to bleeding, Kev thought
he was growing a new Goatee on his neather regions ...
... hostel in Amsterdam, technically called a B&B, but hostel like atmosphere. To get there you have to cross a canal on one of the free boats that the city graciously provides to go back and forth over the water. After walking around a bland brick builing, which turned out to be an MTV studio, followed by an ugly shed which turns out to be a skate park, and finally walking past a delipidated green house, which was turned into a cafe, one arrives at the Lum D'Abner ...
Torino Province, Piedmont, Italy bburg8687... went to the river once. The night before I left we went to Torino and had a very strong time there. Andrea cut my hair after not having done it since departing for Australia, it was a big thing for him and for me.
When I parted ways with the guys it was an emotional time, we had formed something of a brotherhood over the short time and then having to leave was very difficult. I hope to see them all again one day. My brothers from Ivrea!
Written in my notebook
Clara had an appointment and left quite early. Ricca and us went to his papa's apartment for lunch. The food was great. We had beef steak, risotto with porcini mushroom, white wine, etc. I was already stuffed by the steak. Ricca's brother is very good in pool. It was three or 4 something when we set out for ...
Didn't take too long to write this diary... I'm on the last day already.
We got up at like 8am but I was even earlier because I stopped taking sleeping
pills since I was in Florence. We had coffee in a cafe but no breakfast.
Sally had something to eat in that cafe but I didn't get any. We took a
bus to the downtown area. First thing we saw was ...
... much as they do ques (lines) - for the boring and weak of heart. when it comes to driving or getting a coffee, must admit i maybe am both. luckily we only got extremely lost. after losing matt at our first traffic circle (SCARY traffic circles), i did eventually find the part of the map that we were at (on the opposite side than i had been searching...) but that didn't help much, since there was apparently a force field around the centre of ...
