... of the journey out to the airport were stressful - a couple of one-way streets and a late call from Maj at a particularly nasty intersection. But, by-and-large, it was ok and I got there before the designated time. The guy at the drop-off punished me for only ringing this morning. ... dome. There is a giant oculus in the roof which provides most of the natural light and also makes for a beautiful almost peaceful feeling to the building.
I had been so excited to see the famous trevi fountains, everyone I talked to had told me about them and so was pretty gutted to arrive and find them emptied and covered in scaffolding. A good excuse to return to rome ...
... the machines! So we found our hotel/hostel without any bother. We rang the downstairs doorbell to get in...no answer. We tried again... No answer. Lucky for us someone was coming out with his rubbish, so we snuck through. The hostel was 3 floors up...I took one look at the lifts and decided I would be fine heaving 18 kilos of luggage up the stairs. So we rang the doorbell...again no answer. It wasn't looking good, and we settled down with our bags ...
