... We drove to Santa Severina which is a town of just over 2000 people. Drove up the hill in fading light and rain and had a look around, there was a castle from the 1100s and the views fabulous hope the pictures do it justice, made my day. Jenny read about it in a Novel by an English couple who moved there after a holiday. On way home bought a classy €3.25 bottle of red. Lovely place but the internet is not working very well at all ...

After a long chat at breakfast, Lina made our lunch and we set out for Alberobello in Puglia. We have never been to this area before. The roads were as quiet as we have had them in Italy – even on the autostrada. Nice for a change. We arrived at our 'hotel', which is just a couple of kilometres out of Alberobello. It is set amongst the Trulli houses and looks very nice and quite different from the rest of ...

Today's ride was characterized by a variety of road conditions. First a highway with broad shoulders, then a tiny back road with no traffic through olive groves. Next we had to cross the industrial section of Taranto on a major highway with intermittent shoulders, but it dropped us right into the old section of ...
