    Another wet walk!

    ... on but after a while it started to pour with thunder and lightning but we persevered. The countryside was lovely with many olive groves, hills and mountains in the far distance.
    After a while we came across a number of lorries and several olive pickers. The lorries had been moving over and over the path and it was very muddy ...

    ... the whole of this beautiful architect designed house with grand views, all to ourselves! Dinner last night was lovely with 4 very interesting and tasty courses. Washed down with a bottle of local red wine!

    And ......breakfast this morning was another excellent 4 course affair!

    Luigi, the owner, has just told us about local places of interest and walks.

    We drove to Tropea this morning and visited the old town and then went on to the beach beyond Sta Domenica. The weather was gorgeous and 28c and swimming was fab in the warm sea!

    On on the way back we stopped at Pizzo and viewed the Chiaso Piedigrotto. This is a church that has been carved into the rock. Unfortunately it wasn't open, although apparently it should have been! We could see a bit of the carvings through the gates!

    I booked us one night at this hotel because it looked like a fairytale castle, built in stone, and complete with turrets.......its situated about 7 miles up in the mountains from the coast with amazing views.......and we now have 2 nights here at a very agreeable rate!     Finally arrived after a long plane voyage. All has gone well. We are staying in Coreca at Lido, condos that are rented out and directly across from the ocean. The train tracks are in between the condo and the ocean. You just have to walk through the tunnels under the tracks and you are at the ocean. Quiet time of year since it is September and the busy July and August months are done. People are fishing off the shore. We have been to the ocean three times thus far. It ...
