Any way we arrived at Vulcano island in time to do some walking and find out the strange habits about the island. First there is the strange smell of sulfer across the entire island coming from the vapors out of the mountains, then (at 7.30 am) there ...

Cleaned the luggage and the house and left early (?) in the morning to go up north to Milazzo where the boats leave for the Eolean islands. On our way over we made s short stop at Noto Antico. Again a detour that was much longer than expected, but brought us to the place where Noto was build first before being destroyed somewhere around 1696 or so.

... about God only knows what and trying to be their friend, offering too much information. The officials who were once smiling and friendly, now have more stern looks, a fiercer attitudes, as Alexio hands them his passport. which was only filthy dirty, and haggard, but expired! The customs questions now became very accusatory. Jacques and Marina were next to me, and none of us were saying anything. Just praying that Alexio was not going to get us in serious trouble. We were ...

... Italy many businesses close at 2 pm and reopen around 4 (siesta time). Restaurants typically open at 7 - 7:30 or later for dinner.

This is a very pleasant example of a Mediterranean town. Tomorrow we are off to the island of Sicily for a few days. We are told the ferries run every 15 minutes approximately. It looks to be similar in distance to going from Nanaimo to Gabriola and we can see Sicily across the water.
