... had broken their chains and were walking to Artiques from St-Marie about 7 kms in a blizzard. He gave them a lift and all they could do was moan about the road being closed and how no one could help them with their chains. On his way back he found a people carrier parked on a bend with 2 women trying to put on chains the wrong way round and securing them with bungies. ... Saturday brought warnings of apocalyptic snow. It snowed all night and all day and whilst it wasn’t as much as we had 2 years ago, it dumped more in less time – about 1 metres at our level.
