Oops, no notes again! Refuge Elena quite new and modern. Large dorms but partitioned into bunks of 4. Located on a high ridge overlooking the valley, where we had a long break and arvo tea. Met some interesting groups of Italians, see the funny hats. It seems that all of Italy has these 2 weeks off, so the trails and refuges are full. ... bit a couple of the shops had tasting of the gruyere cheeses, they were pretty good. Next stop was Gstaad. Again a very scenic drive. The town was nice, not to the standard of Gruyere but it did have lots of very Swiss buildings. It was then a one and a half hour trip back to Montreux, going up a steep and windy mountain and then down again. The scenery was good but the drive wasn't for me so off to sleep I went til we were on more ...
