The Alps and Skiing on a Glacier!

... say we were on one slope for like 20 minutes trying to get my ski back on. Finally I just gave up and walked down the rest of the hill before trying again. It was all good though when we got the ski finally back on! The day went much faster than we thought it would, although by the end of the day we were ready to go back to our apartment. We were a little too intimidated by the hills going back to where the bus was going to pick us up, but ...

... have experienced this week has been uniquely beautiful. Here at St. Antonien, we have an absolutely spectacular place yet again....and no clouds. The stars here are full on amazing. Shane and I hiked for about three hours the next morning then met up with the family by a small lake. Here there are four huge boulders that are set up for climbing. Christoph brought all the ropes and clips for climbing and the three young kids were busy scaling the rock. ...

Next stop the Nebelhorn in the Allgäu Alps

The next (crazy!) idea I had was to tackle the Nebelhorn - http://www.das-hoechste.de/en/summer/mo untains/nebelhorn/ which is just a four hour drive away in the Allgäu. The point of this madness was that from the bottom (815m) to the top (2224m) is around the same climb as I will do in Nepal (up to 1420m!). This was definitely the most difficult walking I've done so far. It was so steep at times with a variety of terrains from walking on tarmac roads ...

      Friday 29 August

Stayed around the campsite throughout the morning reading
a good book. A short local walk in the afternoon but managed to catch a bus
that took us right back to our start point rather than taking us further up the
valley side. Gave up in disgust, had a cup of tea and carried on with the good
      book.

      ... of missing
      the last chair back.

We stopped off at the Mittelstation on the leg back to
Ischgl and walked down through the “Walk of Lyrics”. This was very enjoyable,
      especially the two suspension bridges.

As the weather was again not so good, we carried on down
the valley through Landeck on to Imst, checking in to the ACSI site Camping
      Imst-West.

We are now 750m and the fridge is now ...
