... the euro. I can't blame them really. From what i could gather, Poland was becoming more and more expensive, yet wages hadn't kept pace. It was a similar story in most of eastern Europe. The barbecue Anita's uncle put on that afternoon was by far the best meal I have had in years. It was just barbied bits of flesh, but the meat was so tender and delicious. Something hard to find back in London.

Three days went quickly, and before we knew it ...
Kamienna Góra, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland andrew.campbell... Mountains is part of the larger Sudetes range. Its highest peak is Sniezka which stands on the border between the Poland and Czech Republic - at a height of 1602 meters above sea level. The mountains are wonderful for trekking and ski. Large areas of the mountains are preserved as National Park.

To see photos from Jelenia Gora and Mountains please click here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =7KSPFn6p9Y0
Jelenia Gora, Western Poland, Poland ulka... of pleasure, prayer, and balance in life. Hornet Flight by Ken Follet An espionage-action novel set in WWII Denmark by the author of Pillars of the Earth. A pretty eclectic mix, which is how I like it. I actually NEED to re-read the Chesterton because it was such a paradoxical page turner that I am still trying to wrap my head around it. Still, I look forward to Krakow in a few days and the promise of some new reading material.

Szklarska Poreba, Western Poland, Poland bogna... clouded over, and the town was virtually empty, giving it a strange feel. The rynek was nice enough, like any Polish town, although the cappuccinos we had in one of the restaurants certainly weren't. It was quite possibly the worst I'd had in my entire time in Europe, and with some shady characters making their way inside we decided to make a move. Swidnica was actually home to a UNESCO world heritage listed wooden church, and supposedly the birthplace of the German WWI flying ace known ...
Karpacz, Western Poland, Poland will... no one home I presume. Tomorrow we are going to visit the town as its apparently a great example of Czech centres so we will see. 10/10/07 Day 72 Rob - washing day today, but the German woman wont relinquish control of the dryer so Jenn is fuming, staring out of the window and scowling). (JENN- in my defence we are totally out of clothes, Rob has no knickers (day 2 for today's garments) and is down to his last shirt so its make or break time. Rob is ...
Trutnov, Czech Republic rob.jenn... a plain joyfull time :) We manage to come back home just on time to meet with Daniella's friend, her father also arrived so I could get introduced. Later on we sat on to watch a movie... a pretty complicated one actually: The Fountain. This whole playing in the snow got me a cold though :S ---------- January 29 Not knowing what to do, I finally board a bus so that I would make sure to arrive in Brno. It was a long ride ...
Trutnov, Czech Republic maplefantaThe day began way too early, with a 530 taxi ride to the airport. We checked in, then went to the gate to wait for the flight. The kids fell asleep on the benches. Flight went through Copenhagen, and we had to go twice through immigration in order to change planes -- what a pain! But we made our flight to Prague, and our small Fokker aircraft was comfortable and departed on time, so all was ...

Teplice Rock Town, Czech Republic rosanddaveMonia and Adam left us in Poznan, and the three of us headed to the mountains. The first stop was the pretty little town of Jelenia Gora ("Yelenya Goora," Deer Mountain in English). It was a quiet town, and it was a nice chance to sit around, relax and eat cheap food. There was a big group of french bikers, probably on their way to the H.O.G convention in Karpacz. It was funny to see big tough looking bikers taking pictures with their tiny digital cameras in the square. The next day we ...
