I'll get around to those previous ones, I swear

... harder to get to, but not out of the picture :) It's really kinda weird to say goodbye to people now, though, because even though we won't be seeing each other, we still have Facebook and about 30 other ways to stay in touch via the wonderful Intarwebs, so it's not really "goodbye" in the traditional sense. It just kinda adds a strange somber tone to the (potentially) last face-to-face meeting, a tone which I feel is unnecessary but also ...

Tartu Kevadpäevad 2009

... Genevieve, and I represented the US, but we also had Ali (Turkey), Sofia (Sweden), and Maaike (Netherlands). The doghouses were insulated and everything...we really put a lot of effort into them. We ran out of time to completely assemble everything, though, so they're going to finish them next week and they invited us back if we are able to join in again. Not sure of the time, but if I'm free I'll definitely go back. It was nice to do some kind of physical activity without ...

Pre-London

... my time at the Huntington Museum of Art. If I can spend just 1 or 2 hours a week there, I should be able to finish the semester with 10-15 hours. I'll have to miss at least one week, though, for one of my trips. Thanks to my tax refund (which went straight to the bank account I can't access) I have a little extra money which I decided to use to visit my friend Amy. She's spending this year in Israel and I've always wanted to go there, so I'm going to spend "spring break" there. It means ...

Classes, more classes, and a roommate

... language course for beginners. They're all pretty easy so far, but I'm sure I'll have quite a bit of work to do this semester. To offset all that boring stuff I'll have to do, we've started planning trips around Europe. I'm officially meeting Brittany in Vienna the first weekend of March and plans are in the works for me to go hang out with Gail, Bess, and Mary in London and Cambridge. In about 10 minutes I'm going ...

German the Russian / Friends / The Mailing

... Ukraine where I visit often. At the PO I buy lots of envelopes. We take the taxi back to the apartment. Then Bev and I walked back into town. The last labels from Johnnie have come from the US. The printing is ready. On the way we stopped at two hotels to see about what rates they could give us for the Feast of Tabernacles. One was the Park Hotel and the other Barclay. Hotel owners are very anxious for business and ...

At the Post Office and the Radio Station

... from Cincinnati is considerably higher. It must be sent international first class. Our mailing into the Nordic countries is handled from Cincinnati. We have over 600 GN's sent to our Nordic countries which are Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland. Paul and Kira Spenser send out booklets and any personal correspondence. We have a PO Box in Stockholm. We then went to the Pere Raadio, the Christian radio station in town which ...

Mailing / Prison/ Helgi

God has blessed us with a smooth ride today. Bev and I start the day by rolling our mailing over to the taxi stand. We're at the PO in minutes. At the franking office the Russian-speaking ladies recognize me from before when I did the mailing with Johnnie. Our name in Estonia is Head Sõnumid which means Good News. They are very kind and efficient and get the mailing cost figured out in 15 minutes. All is well. Then Bev and I went over to a few home stores to get a few ...

road trip !

After deciding in the morning to try and rent a car, we were on the road (remarkably, the right road despite some navigational difficulties....) by 4pm and on our way out of town. Fantastic feeling to have our independence back and to feel the flexibility of chosing our own direction. The car we got was an Opal Astra, very similar to a holden astra hatch. Getting used to the whole driving on the right took a little getting used to and required a fair bit of concentration but if ...

My Ten Dollar Day

... region (toome means hill), where the city was originally founded, to eat. The area is now a beautiful park with several statues of assorted Estonian luminaries, none whom I'd heard of. There is also a crumbling cathedral, originally built in the 13th century. Part of it houses a museum while the rest is just open to the air. I took a few pictures, but it was really too big for any of them to do it justice. The next stop on my itinerary was the Estonian National ...

Two Days in Estonian Jail

... and deals with international relations. She is very diligent in doing a good job. We have always liked her a lot. Back at the apartment we printed out address labels for all five countries for the Russian Bible Study Course. Lookin' good. We went to bed a little earlier than we had the past few days. All this has been a bit tedious and we need a good night's rest. Tomorrow, back to prison .
