      ... dont come on this road and they told me to turn left. To my surprise I was back at the central market where the earlier bus had dropped me off and had gone the long way round trying to find everything when I was right there.

      Customs check was a cursory glance by a lovely young lady (none of this opening every nook & cranny & having to argue to keep our meagre supplies of food/soft drinks).

      ... midnight. Phew, boy, that was close!

      Now the only concern I had is whether I would get to Sepang in time for the festival or not. I was in the middle of nowhere, and there was no glimpse of civilization beyond the border, only highway. I took a taxi to the nearest big city, Alor Setar, hoping to get on time for some night bus departing to KL. The ride to KL from the north of Malaysia takes around 10 hours by bus, but there were no more busses until the morning, ...

      But how's this for science? They had a display about the abominable snowman complete with information on habitat, eating habits...and a button to press for further info. And all we used to have in Hobart were the migration patterns of the Arctic Tern.

      I'd always thought that the Moslems didn't start with the head-gear for girls until they were a bit older... but in Malaysia ...
