    ... over previously despoiled sand which has been transformed into a true desert island beach. Only me and a couple of basking monitor lizards under the baking sun, with the warm and inviting Indian Ocean lapping gently against the now pristine sands, backed by the luxurious green fireworks of the ever present coconut palms.     ... thought we’d get to the mainland and be one step closer to our next jungle trekking adventures in the Cameron Highlands.

    Getting off the second ferry at Kuala Perlis we were greeted by a Premier Inn-style hotel and a KFC, both right opposite the dock. We checked in to one and then went to eat at the other!

    The extra ferry and the extravagant tea meant that we were a little over budget for the day, but who cares?! We’ll make it up ...
