... descended through spectacular coloured canyons (quebras) to Juyuy and then to Salta at 1150 metres. The landscape had been very dry but it got greener as we descended towards Jujuy and then Salta.
Argentina was a complete contrast to Bolivia and Peru with wide "A" roads, underpasses, good service stations with toilets, cafes and shops, and also warmer now that we were at lower altitude after over three weeks generally at 3000 metres or above.
