... in Santiago, flying back to Houston on the same day. But they would fly from Santiago to Miami to Houston, whereas I would return to Buenos Aires to board my non-stop Continental Business First flight to Houston.
After picking up our luggage, we exited through the sliding doors to the large lobby full of people waiting for the arriving passengers. I knew there was someone waiting to pick me up. Yes, I saw my chauffeur holding up my name. I said farewell to ...
... the evening, we met up and got a taxi to the Konex (via a pizzeria where we had some rather lovely pizzas for dinner), situated kind of between the districts of Balvanera and Almagro, where La Bomba de Tiempo play. This is a group of about twenty drummers and percussionists who play together every Monday in the Konex, a large hall-type venue. There were loads of people there. Amazingly you can also buy beers in litre glasses. The music was amazing and ...

Argentina is well-known for the vast ranches (estancias) that occupy its pampas. In homage to these wide-open spaces, I have dubbed our Buenos Aires apartment "Estancia Barbara." Barbara's significantly less complimentary name is "the shoebox in ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina riversbeyond... in Palermo Viejo. Monday night was also the meeting of the new people that are joining us on the Patagonia part of the trip (from Buenos Aires to Santiago de Chile via Ushuaia). We leave the Kiwis behind as well as some British ones and we get some new Brits plus a Dutch and a Croatian woman. After a group meal, it was also time for some dance in one of Buenos Aires boliches (dancing). Usually people go for dinner around 22.00 hrs before going for ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina flyingtiti... I am using many annoying real estate terms that signify "Don't buy this house", but in this case words like "cozy" and "homey" are truly the right words) and I like it very much. The only real problem with the house is that it is pretty old which means that it doesn't have many electrical outlets, not a ton of space, semi-primitive accoutrement and worst of all, no air conditioning (which normally wouldn't bother me all that much, but seeing how this is the hottest summer that ...

Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina euniceandbyoung... back, but he doesn't back off. Now I'm extremely ****** off! I don't say a word, but continued glaring and started aggressively shrugging my shoulders, and raising my hands to my sides, with a gesture of "WTF do you want?" This staring contest continued for about a minute until he finally looked away, and started shaking the ATM door, presumably to harass B&H next, but he couldn't get in because the door automatically locks. He ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina pwong... Bloc Party was good, and the REM concert was pretty good too. I was definitely in a terrible mood after the whole incident, but they put on a good show considering the band members are in their 80's. One complaint I have though, is about the little speech that the lead singer, Michael Stipe, gave in the middle of the concert. It went a little something like this:
"It's no secret that we're from the United States ...
