    ... hot weather.

    We have a very early start tomorrow, so we didn't go out tonight. Instead, in grand backpacker tradition, we headed back to the hotel for a few rounds of cards, tunes and drinks before turning in for the night.

    So, I didn't see everything that this area has to offer, but I did get a nice taste of San Cristobal -- both from a tourist and a non-tourist perspective. Tomorrow we head down to the jungle of Palenque. Stay tuned for more updates!

    ... was public humiliation, mainly for petty crime. For worse crimes the punishments are more severe; someone got murdered last year and the perpetrator was lynched. The religous system there is very intriguing. In the centre of town is a large Spanish-Catholic style church - seemingly normal for the area - but inside things are very different.     ... out the hotel has messed up the room bookings and me and Dimi have each got our own room yay!! Two nights in my own room! Sat down at the wine and tapas bar for pre dinner drinks...3 hours and 4 beers and 2/3 bottle of wine later (and a bit of pasta as stomach lining), Ernesto took us to the cafe Revolucion for some hip swinging action till the early hours of 2am....He got some action as well from one of the tour girls ;) V and mini V (our party mode is switched on :) ...

    ... the thousands of white flowers all along the side of the church leading up to the table. Local people would be sitting on the floor and would light a line of candles in front of them saying their religious chants and prayers. It was a really incredible feeling being in there, the smell of the candles, pine needles and the flowers.
