... West. And trust me 4degrees is a **** load if you remember there are only 360degrees!!! So we ended up in the complete middle of nowhere but luckily after a short search we found a campsite that was open and grasped that we had just lost a day of travelling! At least we got an awesome sunset out of it! Unfortunately the next morning was pouring as we made our way to the campsite we were supposed to have been at already. I repeat…My bad ;-)!!
Zaragoza, Aragón, Spain and Canary Islands ktchrisSpent another night on a parking lot near the city centre. When trying to find a decent place to park our van near all the sights, we got caught up in a lybyrinth of narrow streets, filled with cars (sometimes even in the middle of the crossings...). Well, Boštjan is a very good driver, but my nerves are not as good as I thought.
With the help of a security guard at a bank in one of the ...
... girl, here in Spain studying Spanish - apparently many Chinese people are now wanting so study Spanish! I'll bet anything that it usually involves a Spanish member of the opposite sex. Took a nap in the room, trying to enjoy the A/C which was difficult, since it was blowing out a lot of hot air in the beginning.
It's too bad the hostel is so dead, because it could be really good - it's located in a historic building, and the cavernous bar in ...
... sign on the bridge says 15.23 and 33 degrees, yes, it is very hot. We walk past some Roman shop ruins and their great sewage system. There is a statue of Caesar Augustus with stone arched walls behind him. Some of the brick work here is the influence of the Muslim era.
The Basilica de Nuestra Sra. Del Pilar is really beautiful outside, with statues along the top, colourful tiles on the roof and about ...
Boring long day on the A23, highest col 1223m.
Looking for aire in Zaragoza when Brits James, Clare and Katie in their motorhome took us under their wing to the park they'd already stayed in. Left over from 2008 water based expo, with typically spanish rusty iron "sculpture".
35 degree C until light shower cooled us all off.
Bren washed her hair in the public drinking fountain, starting a trend with the other family.
... of the current situation in the UK. So we might be having the cottage to ourselves which will be nice. Going to save extra hard this year for more travels after the harvest and potatoes are over end of November. By the time we get back to Spalding we would have had 6months off and mainly travelling Africa. Finally arrived in Barcelona on the 8th February, weather was a lot nicer than London still jacket weather though. Spent the next 4weeks travelling Spain and Portugal visiting ...
Ixmiquilpan, Hidalgo., Mexico olimpia_avila... mouth. Further out from this is the Serpent's wall, 40m long and 2.5m high all carved with rows of geometric patterns and a row of snakes eating human skeletons. Apparently this kept the religious practices inside protected from the outside. To the west of the pyramid is the Burnt Palace, a series of halls and courtyards with the column roof supports remaining. The low benches around the place still retain some relief carvings. The whole area ...
Tula, Mexico mikeandmary... Fingerprints of the Gods for a more alternative theory. One Important point from this book suggests that the street of the dead is not in fact a street but a series of giant pools. Lisa and I have seen much evidence to support this. Including Lichen, water erosion and sluices. It is mind blowing to imagine this giant complex filled with water in all its splendor. It also brings the question. Why? All I could think ...
Teotihuacan, Mexico glassman... They are very beautiful and very interesting. We saw the cathedral on the north side of the zocalo which was begun in 1562 and is the largest in Mexico and took almost 250 years to complete. It houses 16 very beautiful chapels. Outside you can see the remains of some Aztec ruins. We also went to the National Museum of Anthropology where we ate lunch in the beautiful outdoor restaurant and then were given a quick tour by Felix. The museum houses pre-Columbian art beautifully ...
