    ... mighty river until I boarded the train for Koblenz. The Cathedral seats the Archbishop and was founded in the first century AD. It was the Roman Capital of Germania. There is much information to indicate that it is considered the cultural capital of the Rhineland.During the war it had the daylights bombed out of it.

    ... of human habitation in the area. From the Middle Ages on it has always been recognised as an affluent city and therefore was walled at numerous times through history.

    The Cathedral is amazing and commenced in 796 by Charlemagne it is the oldest Cathedral in Northern Europe. From 936 to 1531 it was the Coronation site of 30 or so German Kings. Just to be inside and touch the walls was amazing. Could not get enough of it.

    ... classical composer Beethoven. On our arrival in Bonn we decided to take a walking tour of the sights of the city. Our hotel was on the banks of the Rhine so we had a lovely view of the river and city skyline. Just next door was the Bonn Opera House, currently showing Salome but unfortunately time did not permit a performance.
