... the process is still very manual, After the tour it was tasting time! I've never been s big fan of sake, but this was clearly higher quality stuff than I have had before. They also broke out yuzu, strawberry, and tomato flavored sake. Loved the yuzu.

The highlight of the remainder of our time in Mashiko was, of course, the concert. About 1000 people piled into city hall which is also a very nice auditorium. The audience was very enthusiastic, ...

... karate and archery demonstrations, and six activities to learn about Japanese culture and life, including calligraphy, Japanese candy, toys, and traditional green tea. This was an absolute riot, and both the Japanese children and our kids had a great time interacting with one another. More to come on the kindergarten as we returned the following day.

Today we're going to continue practicing taiko with Eitetsu and his group. Yesterday we met the taiko group from Mashiko and got to play a little with them! They seemed pretty cool but they were younger than I had expected. Most were definitely younger than almost all of us. Anyway, we are going to have a workshop with Eitetsu and hopefully get to play with some of the Mashiko kids. We also plan on doing ...

Unfortunately, my new blog hit a a snag... when my SLR Sony camera just decided to stop working yesterday. So I am working off my phone, which is not the best camera. I'll be using some combo of my phone and iPad until I can figure out how to fix the camera or buy another.
