... I spoke to someone at the station. I decided to rent a car. Nancy, a Honda N One, for 8300 yen. I bought some food and comtemplated sleeping in the car overnight if could find a place to shower and charge my electronics. I ended up checking in at Hotel Hokuou nearby. ... larger than the one at Railway Village yesterday. It was certainly very impressive. I guess every train enthusiast would like to have one in his/her backyard. It's a pity again that it was all in Japanese and we couldn't understand a word of it.

... the two hour trip to Hitachiota city to visit civilization. We became experts at one of the arcade claw games in town (you move an arm around and try to grab stuffed toys, chocolates, and other prizes). We also visited the AEON grocery store, and perused the ice cream aisle every visit (there are no real slurpees in Japan, so ice cream is our backup).
Our hosts did take us out for a meal at Genki Sushi which is a chain of conveyor belt ...

Short entry today again.
Went to meet my host mothers sister for lunch at a restaurant in Mito today where they do sumo-style food. So big massive pot filled with everything. Apparently they have one to themselves and then go to sleep afterwards and thats how they get tank mode. It was goooood, also tried a 0% alcohol beer which was actually pretty good.
