Hartberg is a very cute little town and our hotel is beautiful! Situated next to the castle, the Alter Gerischtof is sophisticatedly decorated and very well presented. My room is rather large! With big bay windows that open out onto a balcony. The bed is SO comfortable I literally feel like I'm sleeping in a marshmallow. Breakfast is alright... No toast though. And you have to pay for eggs! So I guess it's another week of eating muesli!! On ...
We left the Hungary, crossed the boarder and appeared to Austria's easternmost and least populous land - Burgenland. We staied in farm Arkadenhof Pension - very beautiful country side place, clean and green, with many facilities, very nice owners Flasch family.

Up at 6am Off to Schonbrunn Palace at 7.30am. First people through the gates so able to take lots of photos with no one there. This is amazing. The size of the place! No photos inside but I had a ball with the camera in the garden! In the 16th century, the ruler of Austria, Maria Theresa wanted to move from the Winter Palace in the centre of Vienna because of all the awful smells, garbage, sewerage, etc.... So she moved to the Summer Palace outside Vienna....it had been built ...
Not much to report today. Full day on the bus. Left Venice at 8.30am. Wonderful sleep. We drove through the Dolomite Mountains. The scenery is just spectacular! Will arrive at the hotel in Vienna in about 1 hour... 4pm. Then off to the Viennese Concert at 6.30. I will finally get to wear my coat! Glad I don't need my boots!.... ... where we all had to continuously run around the table while simultaneously hitting the ball. The winner of each game faced a grim reward: they had to swap their ping-pong paddle for their shoe. Unsurprisingly, I don't recall any of us winning two games in a row.
