October 8: This was our last day with our Italian host family and we laid didn't leave the house until 10:30am (so yes, a late start!). We met a friend for a caffe' (coffee) for lunch and then walked the town of Fabriano. We were treated to a special behind-the-scenes of a beautiful theater. This was right out of the movie Amadeus. I've used the last hour to clean my room, charge all my devices, organize my pack and balance all the money I've spent. As of this second I havec 259,10 euros left (yes, they commas in instead of decimal points in Europe). I'm not sure where we are going today (Sunday) but I am certain there are sights, history, good wine and amazing food ahead). ...

... the palace takes us up a broad and steep grand staircase: an impressive statement in white stone. The base of the staircase displays a fearsome, semi-naked, muscular warrior: surely not meant to be Federico himself, but certainly a reminder of the military basis of Federico's power. The staircase throws you into the substance of the palace, and you quickly realise the massive scale of the place. The rooms, corridors and even doorways are huge. It is almost like a mansion for ...
