Back to Barcelona...and Montserrat

... the outskirts of town had vegetable gardens and lots of fruit trees, olives and grapes. We also saw an ancient wine vineyard, the Olympic Ring, site of the 1992 Olympics, Christopher Columbus memorial and the oldest cemetary in Barcelona where the deceased actually have crypts with a "view"...of the ocean!! Tomorrow another sea day relaxing on board the Ruby Princess and then on to Lisbon...a city Bob has spent alot of time in. We can't believe this is almost over!!!!

"Thank You, the Earth!"

... Ever the optimist, Nat found cheaper land he could purchase on his own outside small town Maella, Spain.

Nat's most intriguing ideas to us surround the topic of food. He strictly adheres to a vegan, mostly raw diet and with the added twist of eating mostly one thing at a time. Salt, sugar, bread = poison in Nat's book. One should only eat half an hour to an hour after they first feel hungry. Preparing and consuming food is not a communal endeavor, nor should you feel the need ...

My Last Night in Barcelona...

... I forget what it´s called, but there were white and red versions. (I had bought the red one.) The inside was fuscia in color, with hundreds of tiny black seeds. The texture was similar to that of a kiwi, but it was nowhere as sweet as I expected that it might be. The flavor was actually pretty bland, almost kinda like an unripe watermelon. Anyway, it was something to try... Gonna go get some sleep though, I have a really long train ride tomorrow.

The Spanish Apartment

... importantly have a combined bath and shower water delivery system which has a knob to switch between the two. The trick was to run the hot water through the bath tap, mix it with the cold water and then pull the knob so that it came out through the shower head! Needless to say, from that point onwards I no longer dreaded showering =) Anyway, enough words, take the pictorial tour of our place. The pictures are more or less in order as you'd walk through the apartment.

... tapas can seem to be anything. After that we watched the host cook Paella and Gazpucho, which we then ate. Paella is pretty much stir-fry made with chicken broth and Gazpucho is a cold liquid tomato salad and tastes exactly like tomato juice. Sangria (Make in a big jug) Chop up fruit into chunks (e.g a lemon into about 6 pieces, an apple into about 8 e.t.c). We used apple, orange and lemon Add 3 - 4 tablespoons of sugar Squash with a wooden spoon, not mash ...

The Secrets of Mount Montjuic

By this point in our stay in Barcelona we had seen all we really wanted to see. What we had left were attractions that we had learned about during our stay and we thought they'd be cool to go to. With our map we organized a walk to Mount Monjïuc and see where we'd go from there. It was a quiet day in Barcelona, the streets and metro weren't as busy as they usually are. Then we remembered it was Halloween, in Barcelona All Saints Day ...

Day 1 Barcelona

... bit of everything like Walmart, but its pricey like Dillard's). We attempted to call the US with little luck...the phone cards don't always work so well. Most people's cell phones get perfect reception, which is surprising and a little upsetting. No sim cards, they just work...but most people did not bring their charger, thinking the airport would be the last time they'd use it. We then ...
