Mountains on the Horizon
... a straight line from Moulins to Clermont-F. Still plenty of traffic and not much chance to look at the view but I made good progress. I stopped in Gannat (doubtless named after my eating habits ;) for lunch with 40 km to go. Great bonhomie in the cafe where everybody knew everybody (except the weird bloke in the corner wearing Lycra!) with lots of multiple kisses and warm handshakes. Le Massif Central
What a spectacular journey up the A75 to this campsite, situated on the outskirts of Clermont-Ferrand. The free (unusually for France) motorway snakes up and down mountain passes, right up through the centre of France. The highest point is 1100 metres but the highlight was crossing the Milau viaduct. The structure gives the impression that you are floating above the villages, which are way, way down in the valley below you.
