    The ryokan was nice and the futons were comfortable. The pillows were typically Japanese, filled with what felt like beads. It wasn't hard and at least moulded to the shape of your head like a memory pillow.

    We had a Japanese breakfast with Joseph distributing his fish to the rest of us. There was rice, pickles, salad, omelette and sausages and a vegetable soup. It doesn't sound terribly Japanese but apparently, it is.

    It took about 2 hours to go over the mountain and we arrived at about 5.30pm at the ryokan (Japanese inn). By the we made up the futons and got ourselves ready, it was time for dinner. Shigeki's favourite restaurant in the area was a beer hall restaurant serving fusion food. The only reason was not for the food but for the beer.

    Hi, We had a very exciting journey on the bullet train to Kyoto. It was amazingly smooth and comfortable, as you couldn't feel the high speeds at all. We stayed a night in capsules, which was a good experience, but we were glad we'd only booked one night!
