We left Nanaimo this morning at 9:30 and arrived back in the US at 5:00 pm - bodies of water and Homeland Security adds of lot of time to travel. We waited about 2 hours for the ferry in Nanaimo, but we were able to finish our book on tape! The weather was perfect today - 72 F and sunny! If we squinted, we could pretend we were on a cruise ship for the almost 2 hour ferry ride - enjoyable! After we drove our car off the ferry ...

... getting close. It has been a lot of work, and I am now glad that we are close to being able to use the boat. The interior is still thrashed and will need a lot of work, but show cares? Really? In time I will get trim on the windows inside, and plumb the sinks and head, but for now I just want to be able to sail. I have nineteen hours of work left before she splashes, and another sixty five before the interior ...

... that it was obviously the place to be as we counted at least 25 RV's all parked up for the night! We had a laugh at this as we have never seen more than about 3 or 4 at a time when we have been parked at other Walmarts around the country. Most of these RV's were Canadian too. We found a spot amongst everyone else and went for a quick shop and to use the loo before going to bed.

... the apples are in season up here, and the orc*********e of which we went quite a few miles out of the way for) were closed. I know this sounds like the idiot thing could be in effect again, but I had expected something like some of the orchards in north Georgia, which have some apples and apple-related products year-round. In fact, my mouth was watering at the thought of a warm apple fritter. But no such luck on these that we tried today ...

... for a bench run. We spent about three nights working on her before we were ready to attempt a start. I had the engine sitting on an old tire to absorb the shock and protect the oil pan as the perkins mounts allow the oil pan to hang down. SUCCESS. She ran beautifully. She was also much quieter than I had expected. But there was a problem. Within about thirty seconds we had several quarts of oil all over the garage floor. Disheartened ...

... a beer.... alone! I really wanted to try the beers from the Granville Island Brewery, which was quite like the James Squire Brewery. I enjoyed sitting by myself, writing in my book and drinking a 'New England Pale Ale' so much that I ordered another! Hey drinking alone aint so bad! To be honest, I didn't really like Vancouver - well there are highlights to any city but I couldn't have stayed much longer than the 3 days. It's a mixture ...

... soup y un bowl de tallarines con salsa de ciruela y pollo, al salir de humedad, comer, de nuevo la tempestad, vengo de regreso en el autobus para tomar el ferry, de pronto recorde una cancion vieja, Iberia Sumergida de Heroes del Silencio, jamas termine de entender porque me gusta pero me recuerda tantas cosas que hoy parece buen momento enfrentarlas y en definitiva lo hare mientras miro la noche en el Pacífico Norte.

... fog. Which is unfortunate as I wanted to take a few pics to show on my trip, but what can you do. And the saddest thing is that there is a huge tree at the end of the street I used to live on, that they decorate with thousands of lights every year. It's right on the waterfront, and gorgeous!! The sad part is I was there too early, and missed it. But I guess if that's the worst thing, I'm doing well. Tomorrow I drive to Calgary!

... Naked (she was pretty good), Billy Talent (they kinda suck) and The Trews (OK). But the highlight of the event were the headliners.... The Offspring! They rocked!
