Most people assume the only thing the Nazis built was the Eagles Nest but the Nazis built much of the surrounding town. ... in Europe felt the same way, as there were probably more than at IOM TT. We found a glacier by taking a wrong turn, but not as spectacular as the ones in NZ. The most beautiful bells chimed out in unison all around us on Sunday morning at our hotel - perfect. We had lunch in a gorgeous little village called Heiligenblut, that overlooked a beautiful valley.
We will have very special memories of this area forever ...

... of the Isel River, past Islitzer Alm (1,513m) to Pebell Alm (1,520m) where we stopped for morning tea before heading up what they call Naturkraftweg or Nature Energy Walk up beside the Umbalfalle or Umbal Falls. These waterfalls are quite spectacular at this time of year and are very high. ... has accommodation. Edelweiss is the national flower of Austria but I find it strange that you never see it. It is currently late Spring/early Summer and there are wild flowers everywhere but on all the paths, forests and meadows we gave traversed there has not been an Edelweiss anywhere to be seen. We are lucky that our national flower is more visible. Even though we were prepared for everything today, the weather turned out to be OK. ...
