We arrived at Dan and Andrea's place yesterday around noon and enjoyed a nice lunch of soup and an Italian pizza at the local (and newly renovated) Italian restaurant a short walk away. ... far, almost no one speaks much English. It is quite a contrast to the Netherlands, where almost everyone speaks it well. On the other hand, I can decipher a lot of German due to the similarity of so many words to English, whereas when the Dutch speak to each other, I cannot pick out a single thing, despite the fact that Mientje says that I was fluent at the age of 5. This morning we set off from Zwolle at about 9, with me driving this time, heading ...
