This morning, we drove northeast to the town of Petra where Father Junipero Serra was born and raised. Like all the other towns on Mallorca, Petra is clean and lovely. The area surrounding Petra is beautiful agricultural land, with many orchards and beautiful fields. Then, it was time to head to the airport and leave Mallorca for Mallaga in the Costa del Sol. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and hope to return one ...
... water I have ever seen and the weather was spectacular. It was so much fun to just play around in the water for the day even though my beach soccer team lost. During the nights we bounced between bars and clubs and ended our last night by being the only people in the Irish pub in the area. It was so much fun to just be goofy and dance around the place without caring. We all got a lot closer with the group of guys we went away with and I really really LOVED going away us four ...
Now, if you are like us, you've probably never heard of Mahon. It is on the island of Minorca, and is the capital of the Balearic Islands, which of course are part of Spain. Oh, the stress of adjusting our language skills as we move from Italy to France to Spain. But fortunately the people we encounter are equally multilingual, so they manage to understand us. When we woke this morning we'd already docked, and we were surprised to see that we were inland from the sea, in ...
We are just back from a 4 night trip. Went on the ferry, only 1.5 hours from Mallorca. Stayed in a hotel called Torralbenc near Mahon, which was gorgeous, and goes straight into our top 5....we were in a pool cottage, totally self contained, with itīs own dinky pool, garden and terrace. Like having our own country house, but with staff. Distant sea views, surrounded by vineyards and unspoilt countryside. Lovely. Breakfast was served (no extra charge) on the ...
... occasions we drove to the market in Arta where Sonja bought some great cheeses. One just about ran away when we opened the packet and the other looked like it was older the I am. (Or was it because of the worms waving to us from the holes?) But tasty!!! Yum,yum. Even though we ate a lot of calories we did a lot of exercising as in walking, swimming and some of us even kayaking. One our last day, after yet another ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Puerto Del Sol Cala d'Or
Great value and great for kids
great value and great for kids excellent kids club hotal has a great lay out food was good and entertainment was excellent and kids disco every night entainment staff are great with kids and join in all the time going back next year for two weeks already booked
We had a fantastic time. The apartment was lovely and always cleaned. The staff were friendly and helpful and even sent us with a packed lunch when we went on a day out as we were all inclusive. The food was lovely, plenty of fish and salad, something for everyone (my 2 girls aged 8 & 4 loved it). The entertainment was great for the kids with Matt, Flip and Baukje putting their heart and sole into it. My eldest is on the autistic spectrum and they were fantastic with her. The pools were lovely, the view of the Marina from the resturant was beautiful and the resort of Cala D'or was peaceful. Lovely for couples and young families, not for the clubbers so that suited us!
We will definately go back next year.
We arrived at Palma and waited for our bus following the instructions from our tour operator, we asked where we should wait only to be told by a very rude young man to wait outside for a family that hadnt arrived yet...excuse me but this is palma airport at the height of the summer season there were hundreds of families after half an hour the young man came out to us and said follow me!! which we did he then plonked us on a bus where we waited for two hours waiting for any one else that was waiting for a family.
We have just arrived back for the second time from this hotel and still very satisfied and happy.
Apartments were fine but probably the worst food I have ever encountered. Although we were on an all inclusive deal, after three days of eating in the restaurant we had to abandon and eat out.
Only booked this holiday 2 weeks before the trip off teletext, so didn't have great expectations. 1st problem encountered was the bus journey from the airport - waited over 1hour for bus to take us, staff at the "Hoppa" desk must have used up all their excuses in 1 night - the best being, "there are too many of you, we only expected 14 but there are 20 so we have to find another bus, don't worry it will only be 5 minutes." When you have got 2 young children and it is already 3 am, not want you want to hear. Lots of other people at the hotel encountered similar delays & excuses. On arrival at the hotle check-in was easy enough, however trying to read directions to our room in the pitch black was not easy as the hotel is spread out over spacious grounds - easy to navigate in daylight, but until you get your bearings not so good at night. Our room was excellent, spacious & cleaned about 4 times during our week, with towels changed regularly. The pool areas were good; we didn't use the small pool by the restaurant, the main pool by the bar was too crowded for us, but the top pool was excellent. Always managed to get at least 3 sunbeds everyday, lots of room to sunbathe & plenty of space for all the kids & inflatables. Personally I thought the plastic glasses were a good idea, no problems with any broken glass & children's feet. Not so sure about the Kids Club- 1st time ever I hadn't had to sign them in/out, give my location when they were in club or even give their names & ages. The staff worked hard, but seemed quite inexperienced. My 9yr old daughter, an experienced Kids-Clubber over the years, was not overly impressed with the daytime activities, but did love the Mini-disco & night time shows. I did have to complain on 2 occasions though; they allowed my 9yr old & 3yr old to walk back to the pool unaccompanied and more worryingly, 2 children were locked in the clubroom at the end of a morning session. The "rep" had not checked the toilets & had assumed everyone had gone home; it was only whilst walking my kids back towards the snack bar, that we saw these two crying faces from inside the room & I had to run & get someone to open the door. The Rep said that they hadn't told him they were going to the toilet; however I pointed out that he was responsible for all the children & should have checked before locking up. Perhaps a signing in/out book would help? The food was ok - nothing too exciting, plenty of salad, chips and overcooked meats. The snack-bar was excellent, tasty burgers & hot-dogs in the afternoon if you hadnt managed to eat anything at lunchtime. We did enjoy our week; happy in the fact that it was only a week, not our main holiday for the year and we hadn't spent a fortune on it!
Loverly walks but...
i took my 4 children and my husband on a suprise holiday.we got there and had to wait 1 hour for a bus to the airport and the children were really tired. we got to the resort and had an appartment really spacious but all had to sleep in 1 room which was ok we could live with that.we woke up for breakfast , it was all displayed in layers of fat. the food for the week was just salad, chips, burgers, hotdogs,1 type of meat, 1type of fish,1 type of veg, 1 type pasta, 1 type of potatoe.pudding was bulmonge, jelly and ice cream, that was it and drinkd were what ever you wanted.the pools were clean in the morning and murky during the day. so if you like walking, chips, and the same food and entertainment this holiday is just right but i know one thing i wont be going again.
We returned to Cala D'or for our 3rd visit on May 16th this year....as always the resort itself was absolutely fabulous and the weather was lovely. We had an idea about where the hotel was based, right on the Marina, absolutely stunning, a perfect location. When we got into the hotel it looked very nice, but very wide spread. My partner and I were a little worried though when we saw the 2 sets of stairs down and 1 set of stairs up that we would have to climb with our little one, pram and 2 suitcases. The apartments themselves were very good with self catering facilities. The maid service was absolutly dismal, maids only came to our apartment twice in our weeks holiday and only replaced the towels twice which was a pain. I was quite grateful that they didn't enter our room often though as over the week there were 60 reports of thefts by maids and hotel staff from rooms and from the safety deposit room which we had to pay 23 euros to have the pleasure......be very careful, take everything with you!!!
We have just got back from a weeks holiday staying at this hotel, we went all inclusive and the food was beautiful. There was always plenty of food and different dishes available. The staff were very friendly and were always there cleaning after you. There was lots of entertainment available at the hotel, the kids club was fantastic along with the childrens entertainment on an evening. This hotel is situated around the marina in Cala D'or which is beautiful. We took our 3year old daughter and she had lots of fun.
We would definatley go back to this hotel again for a holiday as we really enjoyed our stay there.
