Nothing fancy but clean, old style hotel right on the banks of Lake Como (or Lake Lecco if you are a local). Very well located on the banks of the lake opposite the city, with views over the city. Close to a number of restaurants and within walking distance of the city centre.

... unreal, sun is fierce and not a breath of wind. Afternoons on the balcony are the order of the day, listening to all the birds shouting at each other and arguing over bread dropped on the floor at the cafe by the lake.
Only downside is having to wait until 7 till the restaurants open. Not easy for two gluttons like us. Had a rubbish meal first night too which is enough to put us in a bad mood for about a week. Italy almost done. ...

Bought bracelets for gifts back home, walked through to the sister hotel ...

"Yes, how did you know that?" I responded.
"My wife works there. I called her now to say 'hi' and she asked me why I wasn't driving the boat. I told her we let an American blonde take the wheel for awhile." She saw you at the restaurant last night." Lake Como may be a delightful place to spend your summer if you're not addicted to your privacy. I wonder if George ever has buyer's remorse.

Slept in sort of. The hotel is very noisy and on a main street. Lovely breakfast then got onto the metro, was 1.50E for an all day ticket on Sunday. Is normally that price for 90 minutes. Went to see the Last Supper by Mr Davinci which was an amazing 15 minutes. It does indeed look better in person. We were lucky to get in as there are only 25 people allowed every ...
