ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.
Monaco, Monaco tilmanI know I always write the same...great weather, such a nice city, good food....but I have to say that Nice was a (very) big surprise for me, I can say that it is my favourite city in Europe (ok, number 2 after Lisbon). You have the mountains, the Cote d´Azur (when you see the water you know why the name is Cote d´Azur), the market with fresh vegetables, fruits, honey, oil, soap, you have great restaurants ...
Nice, Provence, France tilman... messy or smelly with is good since it's my job to clean Theo out. I have coined the phrase "Feeding Theo" as a euphemism for going to the loo which Kim thinks is gross!! But I'm sure she'll be using the term in no time ;-) Gas... not bad flatulence We filled up our two 4.5kg gas bottles before we left London. The rest of Europe do not use UK calor gas bottles so at some stage we will have to buy a EU standard gas bottle - the only standard bottle is Campingaz which is ...
... of Prince Albert - no joke), then walked along the harbour. The harbour had a full fairground atmosphere with rides, games, food, lights etc. We had the most delicious kebab for dinner from a stall :-) So posh!
We then followed the curve of the harbour to gape at the boats moored there. The amount of money people obviously have is just obscene!
Next we thought maybe we would have a go at trying to win ...
... we eventually found a cute place that by some miracle was open. Emboldened by some food, we found our way back to the station and decided to proceed on to the next stop, Cannes. It was a little disappointing, as it seems that it is quite a small town area and we can't quite work out why they would hold a huge film festival there, but anywho. Dee kept on the lookout for Brad Pitt or George C, but no luck unfortunately as the festival was much earlier in the year. We saw some locals ...
Nice, Provence, France dan-and-dee... we determined the correct platform for our connecting train we ran full speed there and boarded the train 2 minutes before it started moving. This was probably the first of many close calls on the European rail system. The train to Nice took us through the rail stations of ritzy destinations such as Cannes and Aix-en-Provence. We arrived in Nice to the hustle and bustle of a chic port city that is very reminiscent of a city such as ...
Nice, France worldtraveller9... Once we stopped we jumped on a bus for a short ride close to our hotel. After walking about 200 meters we arrived at the hotel - the sea breezes are so wonderful, and we are one street behind the water. We checked in, got settled then made our way to the local supermarket to get some ingredients to make dinner and breakfast and some fruit for tomorrow. We walked along the promenade and we both have fallen in love with the ...
Nice, France suzandtrentIt's been a while since I've been able to update on this thing, and while it seems as though I might have just been hanging out in Rome, quite the opposite has occurred. I have had a crazy past few weeks, which will now be recollected for you. The weekend of Nov. 19 and 20 was a crazy and busy one. I was in Florence for my fourth and finals time this semester for an art field trip. It was an intense art weekend, but very ...
San Remo, Italy kdut... were upwards of 150 feet long, and the larger ones were anchored just outside. We visited the palace before strolling down around the marina - one of the boats/ships we saw was flying an Australian flag. Its name was Boadecea and it was some huge blue thing with a white-uniformed crew bustling around it. No city of origin, though, so we don't know for sure if it was Aussie. Any other reason ...
