... Expensive at 70€ with a bottle of red but great food. Porcini funghi pasta and fish in a strong tomato and olive sauce finished with a creme brûlée - best meal yet. Rain all night and predicted to get worse and stay for few days so no point staying here, nothing to do in the rain. Prefer to spend wet day in train and come back when it's fine. Bought the last copy of a walk description book in village- lots great looking walks- some quite easy and some up ...

    Day 10 - Sunday, 14th September, 2014

It was only a short ride down to Parma from Brescia. We went through nice looking villages where it appeared that all the locals had come out to meet in the town or village Piazza's or squares.

It was another beautiful day, weather wise and it justified our reasons to move south in search of decent weather after ...

We have 131.5km on the clock for the ...

Despite the late fun of last night, we manage to get up early enough and go through the routine of getting all the gear together, shower etc. As we're roughly on time I think it's better that we dont get on the tram to Centrale Station and opt for a Cab. The nice young lady at the counter rings for a taxi and whilst we wait, we sample San Giovanni's unique breakfast of Farley's Rusks and jammy biscuits - at least there was coffee at hand. I left a note for Angelo, thanking him for ...

Breakfast at the hotel and a visit to the battistero and the cathedral. Found a deli and bought up big - parma ham, parma cheese, balsamic, Lambrusco and olive oil. Lunch out at La Forchetta - just below our room window! Highlight was the Aubergine parmagiana with smoked cheese. Beautiful old town... Now enjoying the local produce at home with a bottle of ...
