Ravenna is a city we have been to many years ago but this time we had a guided tour, which I can highly recommend as the guide pointed out stuff that we would most certainly have missed and she put it all into historical context. The city is mostly famous for its mosaics so the first place we visited was the Basilica of San Vitale, the patron saint of Ravenna. On the outside it is plain roman bricks but inside are spectacular mosaics both on the floor and on the nave. The ...

The next day, we rode bikes around the city. We found out that Ravenna is know for its mosaics. So we rode out bikes to check out some mosaics in the old ...

Today is our last riding day. We decided to avoid the heat, book an extra night in Venice and take the train from Ravenna to Venice tomorrow. Three nights in Venice - how good is that! I certainly think so even though the extra night is costing ...

... to eat and then jump back on the bike. I had a soft yoghurt - with a little chocolate drizzled on top. Very refreshing and all that I needed.

We called into a couple of Tourist Info Centre's along the way to get the cycle map for that district. The people were very helpful and we had a map with directions and info to guide us on our way. The €25 that the Tourist mob got in this town for booking the hotel room was a bit of a ripoff. Our ...
