Final Morning and Final Thoughts
... light bulbs, the dodgy electrical socket, the faulty phone (our ‘alarm calls’ were refreshingly absent on our final night…), the bathroom that you cannot swing a very small cat in… but I don’t. After a stop for a drink – a hot chocolate this time instead of a beer (the temperature has turned decidedly nippy despite the sunshine) – we continue our mission to explore every inch of the city. We find ourselves caught up in a school crowd; – the students look a lot more sophisticated than our English high school rabble – discover even more churches and little parks, and then stop for the obligatory beer and ...
Day 2 – the best laid plans….
... the boats like sardines we decide to continue travelling by foot instead of by water.
Time for a late lunch – oh, and a beer – at Cafe Volkshuis. This is a free Wi-Fi zone so we catch up on all the goings-on back home and I am able to upload a particularly fetching picture of myself in front of a windmill to Facebook… With a beer and (another) toasted cheese sandwich inside us, we’re ready to tackle the Belfort.

... is. In many ways, Brussels reminds me of Calgary where tourist arrive to but quickly go through in order to visit Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper. I`m not discounting Calgary but it`s not a highlight place for international tourists.

A note before i leave....

Well, no, not really (since my idea of a romantic date is pedalos on a lake with a picnic and booze!) but this place just had this feel to it... i suppose, if you are so inclined, you could take someone's hand and wander through the streets, oblivious to everything around you - and if you need some extra courage there are plenty of pubs to pop into ...
