    ... and I force my legs to keep turning the cranks. I should also add that when I tell people what I'm doing, some say "and your wife lets you do that?!" I've never thought that way. I mean why wouldn't you be able to go if you wanted to go cycling in Japan on your own. So I guess I'm lucky that way in that I have a very supportive spouse (thanks honey!).

    But enough philosophizing, back to the climb! As I progressed up the mountain, I started to feel better. I think ...

    After arriving in Fukushima City (yes, the famous Fukushima which is only about 75 km away from the Dai-ichi nuclear power station), I didn't notice anything different from the other cities in Japan I've visited other than some people appeared to be glowing at night but, otherwise, their appearance was normal.

There is a large hall with a sunken hearth, a living room, a room with the family's Buddhist altar, a guest room and sleeping rooms.     ... few businesses have credit card or EFTPOS facilities. Jess drove us up to Nihonmatsu castle, which is set high above the city. It is In ruins but the site is beautiful, with running streams and ponds. This is a major viewing place for cherry blossom but the cherry blossom was finished.
