... small trenches around each encampment. Another fascinating insight into the diversity that is the European Comminity.
The beach was lovely with fine golden sand and huge dead jellyfish. We sat and drank beer and watched the sunset and only laughed a little when we thought of family and friends in the cold wet November days at home. The security at the campsite was interesting in that both of us and the car ...
... I talk briefly with a receptionist in a Best Western hotel. She's actually quite interested to hear my story, and takes my email in case she knows anyone that needs a bit of work done in exchange for room and board. This is the only beacon of hope, in an otherwise very bleak situation.
I eventually find the Youth Hostel, and thoroughly abuse their complimentary internet service. We'll see what tomorrow holds.
... about the Qantas, Jetstar or Virgin Blue self check in system. Unlike BA, if you were booked to fly together then generally when you go to check yourself in all call up your booking, the person that your are travelling with also appears. But at BA, the idea seems to be if you don't go and start checking in 24 hours before your departure, then they will allocate you seats at random, so not taking into account that you are travelling with your significant other and may ...
Faro, Algarve, Portugal pat_n_mel... was our first choice for somewhere to appreciate said coastline, possibly as we'd been drinking the local brew for the last few weeks and it's noted for its 'end of world feel' (the town not the beer) and inaccessibility (again, the town not...). It was the inaccessibility combined with our lack of time and a gentle reminder that we were on holiday not travelling, that made our mind up for us and we were soon on a high speed tilting train ...
Tavira, Algarve, Portugal warm... discovering a gem of a local restuarant with amazing bbq chicken. 6 euro for dinner!!
The next day to fill in time before departing we looked at the Chapel of Bones, which was built from the bones of the monks from the local cemetary. Over 1200 skulls. Definite goosebumps eh!
Our time in Tavira has gone quickly. We´ve enjoyed soaking in the local flavour whilst sitting at our favourite pastelaria (pastry shop but really a cafe) in the Praça Dr. Padinha. We've had fish a few times - Chris has been more adventurous than Tony in this department! On Wednesday we caught the ferry for the short journey to the beach on the Ilha de Tavira. Our first swim in ...
Tavira, Algarve, Portugal chris_n_tony... English-speaking people (lots of English, Dutch and German), good sounding dishes on the menu and blah tasting dishes in reality. Kevin got the baked cod with a creme sauce which turned out to be a cod casserole. I had a margarita pizza which had no taste and looked like it was run over by a truck, which was disappointing since I knew margarita pizzas categorically do not have eggs in them. After lunch we ducked into a cool shop that I ...
Olhao, Algarve, Portugal claesch... 1755). Faro oli looduslike jõude poolt täielikult maatasa tehtud.
Algarve piirkonna pealinnas käisime vaid korraks õhtul. Mulle jättis see nn piirkonna suurima linna kohta ikka väga väikse linna mulje. Jalutasime pisut vanalinnas, kindluses ja sadama ääres. Elav koht oli Shopping Mall, kus olid taas esindatud samad brändid nagu Lissabonis. Ostukeskuses oli hängimas palju noori ja lastega peresid.

Foiniiklased ja kreeklased seadsid Lagose jõesuudmes üles poe, mille Afonso III vallutas mauride käest tagasi 1241.a ning portugallased said jätkata siit Põhja-Aafrika moslemite ahistamist. Siit algas Avastuste Ajastu, mida juhtis 21aastane prints Henry the Navigator, kes purjetas esmalt Marokosse. Hiljem tegutses ta nii oma laevas ...
