Hotel Poseidon Playa Benidorm

Researched lots of Benidorm hotels before booking this one. Never been to Benidorm and was worried it was all high rise blocks and english food and bars. We are 40 and 39, and realised this hotel had an older clientile with Spanish guests as well, but we wanted somewhere away from the hustle and bustle where we could relax and natter with other guests. On arrival we were not disappointed.

Wonderful location, exceptionally clean rooms and public areas, fabulous beach just across the road. The food was fair - good the whole week. although would have preferred fresh veg to the canned that were dished up daily, and the rather boring desserts of rice pud, rice pud and more rice pud lol. However, it was made up for by bucks fizz at breakfast and some rather good Paella.

Unfortunately, our peace did not last. After 24 hours we were joined by some 400 Spanish OAP's. I neither mind Spanish people or OAP's, lol, but the sheer number of them seemed to make them act quite badly, could never get a table at the dining room, food was always gone, shoved out the way, shouted at etc :( Apparrently Sept - Nov is the time when the Spanish govnt give their OAP's a free holiday. I just wish we had known before booking - it was very overwhelming, I think they felt we should not be there, and objected if the entertainer tried to play any English music at all (some even got up and walked out or shouted down the guy) and a more evenly spread crowd may have made for better holiday company.

Still we had a good holiday but did eat out twice and didn't spend too long in the bar in the evenings as seats were impossible to find.

Plenty of games in the day, other Brits really great and lots of fun, staff generally a friendly bunch, especially Belli and Tonio the Anamacion team -80cent bus ride into Benidorm for shopping etc and the train ride to Denia is a must.

We would definately return.

I have just come back from staying at the Poseidon Playa Hotel. It is a first class hotel and you are well looked after. The service is excellent and everyone is friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Benidorm. Thanks, Lynda

My parents booked our holiday to include myself and hubby and my brother. It was a rare opportunity for us all to get together for their 30th Wedding Anniversary. The rooms were clean on arrival although a very temperamental cleaner didn't always clean as well as she could!

The food was pretty average....I mean you wouldnt starve!! But it seemed they were catering more for their Spanish guests, and believe me, there were a lot of them, you often heard them before seeing them!

I may be a little pickier food wise than normal as I'm 4 months pregnant but often I would survive on tomatos and cucumber! The evening entertainment left a lot to be desired.......from dancing parrots to JJ on his keyboard, again seemingly catering for the Spanish guests. The temperatures were in the high 30's every day and thank goodness for air conditioning!! Overall the hotel communal areas were excellent, very clean and well decorated and the staff were friendly and helpful. I loved the fact that the hotel was far enough away from the hustle of Old Benidorm and the beach was immaculate and only 5 minutes away and we never once had to fight for a sunbed on the beach. This hotel would be ideal for families as the kids club was well organised with excellent staff. Unfortunately I won't be going back. We all had a great time, but holidays are often what YOU make them!

Have been back and for to this hotel since the 1980's when it was known as the Sol Garzas.... Am returning again in September. Its location to the beach is superb, and all the rooms have a sea view. The majority of the staff have worked there for years. The restaurant buffet has always been excellent in my book. Although away from the main nightlife of the new town, a lovely 15 minute stroll along the prom will get you into the old town, which is a delight!

No more cheap package holidays for us, not knowing where your going or the uncertainty of the accommodation. The Poseidon Playa 17th floor (top) fabulous views (all rooms have a sea view) not luxurious but well appointed and spotless.Everything works, staff brilliant, pleasant and efficient. Fabulous food (look for the champers at breakfast) Five minutes to the beautiful beach, fine sand which slopes gently into the water. We were there in July 2003 and the temperature hit 34 yummy. Been four years on the trot, just got back. great hotel,clean, good food and a excellent location for the beach. Old town and shops just twenty minutes away.Always a friendly greeting at Charlies bar round the corner on the front or at the Full Monty with Tina & Liam, such nice people to have lunch with.

Me and my daughter love the poseidon playa great views we are going on the 8th july 03 this will be the fourth time on the trot the foods very good it peaceful at night you can get a good nights sleep easy access to the beach a 100yds away or stay at the pool charlie,s bar round the corner is good aswell for a quiet night or go to the lively end if you prefer its worth it paying £2 for lunch at the hotel eat as much as you want and if you go away to the water park you get a good packed lunch which has to be ordered the night before recommend this hotel its excellent

I went to benidorm 3 years ago when I was 15 now im 18 im cuming back wit my boys to stay at the poseiden playa again.I rate this hotel exellent.im goin to be at the hotel 15/7/03 so im nearly there.cant wait.cu soon.craig peel.

I have stayed at the Poseidon Playa, Benidorm for the past three years and I am going again this year in June. It is a brilliant Hotel and everyone is very friendly especially the waiters. Rudi was especially good on the entertainment evenings along with Anna. The rooms are excellent and the view is magnificent. Manolo and Gregorio are excellent and funny behind the bar and each time we return they always remember us, even the owner. I would definitely recommend it.
