... city. We walked by the river, saw the famous Christ's church, ate tons of good food, and stopped by some pretty cool local shops. Overall it was an interesting experience and I'm glad I went. I look forward to my trip to Teregganu this coming week and the Hudud forum that will be held there. Maybe I'll find something that will make me fall in love..Until then, I will be staying inside and away from the heat of KL.

Just as our spirits were drooping, the clarion call of Miley Cyrus played through tinny speakers came up behind us. We spun around to see a line of trickshaws (like tuk-tuks, but pedaled rather than motorised), decked out in bright feathers and Hello Kitty merchandise, with flashing lights and pom-poms adorning every edge. There's a pool on the 10th floor with a ...

... cake, and are offered the chance to buy a variety of snacks. We try to get coffee with no milk or sugar and succeed on the black but not on the sugar-free!

Eventually we get into a more built up area and arrive at a very modern Tampin station 15 minutes early; we are met and driven the half hour or so to Melacca. It’s surprisingly modern en route and we pass two large Tesco stores as well as a myriad of American fast food chains, dotted among a mix of concrete ...

... with a cab driver who suggested a route better for cycling. One of the frustrating things about asking for directions is that you usually just get pointed in the direction of the freeways. While this makes sense for people with cars, we only go about 12-15 kmph and are loath to the idea of sharing our route with 6 lanes of trucks and buses whizzing past us at a million kilometers per hour. Anyways, we were pointed in the right direction and were off. After cycling along for ...
