      ... who had warships in the harbor and were bombing the island. Venizelos was the politician responsible for making Crete a part of Greece in 1913. There were beautiful views of the town from this hilltop. There is a small church there which was rebuilt with funds from Csar Nicholas the II.

      ... just after 8. It was a tour with about 15 in a small bus. The drive to the beach is about 2.5 hours through the mountains. We had a few stops along the way. The tour guide fabulous and provided great information and the history and lives of Cretans. Some information about Crete.
