    Race Day

A travel blog entry by legoodtimesroll on Jul 10, 2015

Graham met another trathlete on the campsite and they decided to travel on the 7.30 bus into Geneva. An early start with number tattoos applied , sun cream on and pre race breakfast. I delivered them to the bus stop and went back to see if there was any other signs of life at base camp. Slowly the campers emerged and prepared themselves for the day ahead in the hot sun, We failed to get to the bus stop by 10am as planned so had to wait another half ann ...

Thursday The bus trip to Geneva was uneventful and we arrived at the Nash airport Hotel. On our way past the airport we checked that our bikes were still there, and they were but our little tool bags were both open. Obviously whoever had looked in them didn't want spare tubes or Alan keys. Not too late a night for the travellers and the triathlete who was going to be up ...

... end of the lake. A very rainy start to the day steadily cleared. As usual negotiating through a succession of tiny French villages, on roads that are always too narrow, makes driving 'interesting'... Our Tom Tom GPS has made a big difference - but still whoever is not driving, is often acting as a navigator too. Often, but not always, their helpful advice is gracefully acknowledged by the driver... ...

... to rugged mountains and alpine countryside of the Rhone Alps. For the last part of our trip there were a lot of tunnels as the road went straight through the mountains. The game of holding your breath through the tunnel had to be abandoned as even the champion breath holder (Pete) couldn't hold his breath for several kilometers. The longest tunnel was 3.3km. We got to Doussard, which is a quiet ...
