Total mileage 247 Today we took the local train and walked the last 12 miles to Krapina. It was a very challenging hike through the hills with beautiful views. Staying at a great hostel, clean beds and locally cooked food. Just had a massacre I feel human ...

Now my room was great and one of the young lads got up to see me off. ... As we returned to the campground, we passed a strange set of what could only be described a "spectator stands" on the side of the lake. After hanging out for a few minutes, we realized that these were, in fact, "stands" for rowing races. Turns out the lake is the base for the Slovenian national rowing team (winners at the last three Olympics) and a popular place for international ...

... are many spectacular waterfalls, of different sizes, and again, like in Lake Bled, the water is perfectly still. I have never seen water so blue and so clear. You can see to the bottom everywhere and there are hundreds of fish in every single lake. You cannot swim at Plitvice Lakes but we felt that this was a good thing as it was then protected. Unfortunately, the weather was very poor and overcast and we looked like typical Brits abroad in small shorts ...
