Recently I visited Costa Rica which in every sense is 'La Pura Vida' (Pure Life and clearly living). This blog is intended to help fellow travellers to plan their stay in Costa Rica and I am writing it as per my experience in Paos, Arenal, Monteverde and Manuel Antonio. I have divided this review in four sections , one for each place I visited …

We got picked up at 7:15 this morning to go on the Sky Trek Canopy Tour in Monteverde. The canopy tour consisted of 9 ziplines. The longest zipline was close to half a mile. Some of the ziplines had speeds of almost 40 mph. The first zipline we did went through a cloud. About halfway along the line, we were no longer visible to those behind us. I …

... it was all the girls gear, not his. Soon it was dinner time, the girls opted to make dinner at the hostel, and Erich and I decided to have a nice dinner out. We had noticed a really neat restaurant called the Tree House on our way in to Monte Verde, so we went to check it out. The restaurant was rightly named, as it was built around a massive tree. There was a beautiful spiral staircase that wound around the trunk up to the second level, and lamps were hung in the ...

... you get to view the forest at the tree top level and really take your time with no rush of other people. Also between the bridges are nice walking paths and our guide always finds interesting things to show us. The bridges are pretty stable but I do better if I look out to enjoy the view....rather than looking straight down. ... birds. The guide points out vines which are round and snake across the forest and the Leana (or roots) that are usually oval. We are always on the lookout for birds and a Black Guan flies in and is huge due to a diet of plentiful fruit. The flowers are lovely, especially the Raceesea (red flower) and the orange/purple palm flower/fruit.

We hear many birds: Three wattle bellbird, green toucan, azure hooded jay, highland tinamou, ...

I had expected a bit more from the hotel. Everything was good but just I did not find it value for money. There is spa, pool and restaurant in the hotel. The room decor was jaded and it gave me feel of Inn and not like a 3 star hotel as it claims.
