Obviously a remnant of the Communist times. This hotel is set amongst the splendour of the Plitvice National Park. The hotel lacks WiFi and the shower is inconveniently placed in a bath tub approximately 12 inches off the ground.

The rooms at Pltivice Hotel were clean and reception was very polite. We found staff to be very regimented which was disappointing - but we were there to see the park - so not too concerned. However, the location of the Hotel from the bus stop was only a 5 minute walk and again maybe 5 minutes to the Park entry gates. Fabulous location and worked very well for us as we were backpacking.

... the bread is shaped like pita bread, but is much thicker and has a completely different texture. The bread alone is fantastic - it's nice and light and soft. After dinner I came back, took a shower and went to sleep.

The hostel here is really small - there are only four dorms, two bathrooms, and a SMALL living area about 10x10 square. It's a bit cramped, but I guess you get to know your neighbors really well!

... left over pizza from the night before. Pizza? For breakfast? What a brilliant idea. Especially when it is 5am and you are sleep deprived.

After 2 hours of waiting we boarded and headed out on the plane where Rush excitedly tried to get me to see the islands forgetting that I was in the middle seat and could see the wing. And the sky. Not, islands. He then proceeded to push my head down to see the islands, accomplishing me looking at the sky and Rusher looking like ...

    ... you don’t
notice how far you are walking. There were varying routes, & we opted for a
1 hour walk, then a boat trip, then another 1 hr walk and a bus ride, then another 20
minute walk. Steve managed to drop his hat in one of the lakes but retrieved it without falling in! The walk taxed my foot but it was definitely worth the pain! (The
coconut magnum helped!) Google it! Another place to come back to.

After lunch we then caught a bus to the top part of the park and wandered around some more lakes and waterfalls. It was most enjoyable!!

We then drove approx 4 hrs to Rovinj on the coast, where we are staying for 3 nights.
