Obviously a remnant of the Communist times. This hotel is set amongst the splendour of the Plitvice National Park. The hotel lacks WiFi and the shower is inconveniently placed in a bath tub approximately 12 inches off the ground.

The rooms at Pltivice Hotel were clean and reception was very polite. We found staff to be very regimented which was disappointing - but we were there to see the park - so not too concerned. However, the location of the Hotel from the bus stop was only a 5 minute walk and again maybe 5 minutes to the Park entry gates. Fabulous location and worked very well for us as we were backpacking.

... left over pizza from the night before. Pizza? For breakfast? What a brilliant idea. Especially when it is 5am and you are sleep deprived.

After 2 hours of waiting we boarded and headed out on the plane where Rush excitedly tried to get me to see the islands forgetting that I was in the middle seat and could see the wing. And the sky. Not, islands. He then proceeded to push my head down to see the islands, accomplishing me looking at the sky and Rusher looking like ...

... them. It would have been such a great scenery to swim around.

We couldn't help feeling we timed our visit pretty well, as we arrived most people were leaving, it meant there were few people in the park while we were, giving us a nice quiet stroll, as oppose to having to fight our way through people to get around.

We finished the night off by heading out for Pizza - it was fresh, delicious and ...

From Split we travel led to Plitvice Lakes and stayed in a lodge for the night. We felt like we were in Austria, the trees, the style of buildings and the chill in the air all combined to make us feel we weren't in Croatia.
We had a lovely meal in the restaurant in the lodge and the next day we went to the National Park.

It was amazing, there is water ...

A large ferry and cruise ship port, there is always large boat activity
in the harbor. Split has a very wide and
400 yard long promenade called the Riva, that the Split residents frequent to
see and be seen. A huge coffee culture
exists and it seems that all the Split people do is sit and drink coffee and
watch people go by. Not a bad

When we got on the bus and asked about getting off at our stop the driver said no so we were a little nervous but the lady at the info desk had also said it was walkable it just wasn`t a real short walk, oh boy. The bus ride itself was ok, but we definately prefer the roomier trains we`ve now gotten used to. When we got to one of the stops near the lakes we asked which way we needed to walk to get to our stop and to our pleasant surprise the driver said to get back on ...
