Obviously a remnant of the Communist times. This hotel is set amongst the splendour of the Plitvice National Park. The hotel lacks WiFi and the shower is inconveniently placed in a bath tub approximately 12 inches off the ground.

The rooms at Pltivice Hotel were clean and reception was very polite. We found staff to be very regimented which was disappointing - but we were there to see the park - so not too concerned. However, the location of the Hotel from the bus stop was only a 5 minute walk and again maybe 5 minutes to the Park entry gates. Fabulous location and worked very well for us as we were backpacking.

We've seen Plitvice National Park on TV and always said it would be so nice to see it 'someday' - well 'someday' has arrived.

We took the 2.5 hour bus ride from Zagreb to Plitvice. The travel books said there wasn't much for accommodation especially for backpackers on foot so I made sure to book a hotel room online right in the park . …

... forest. The setting was very calm and quiet apart from some bird noises coming from within the huge trees. It was a good place to rest and gather our thought on what a stunning place this was.

After our break we were on our way again heading back south towards the entrance of the Park. It was about 2pm now and got dark at about 6pm so we still had a lot of ground to cover and lots to see. Our walk now took us right alongside and also over ...

Today we crossed the border into Croatia, and are interested to see what it's like after chatting to some fellow travelers. We headed straight to some waterfalls in a national park, via the scenic route the GPS took us! I am glad it took us that way because we got to see a side of Croatia that most tourists don't get to see. So many unfinished houses, and derelict buildings, quite ...

For anyone who has been to Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia, you don’t need to be convinced of the beauty and wonder of this park in the middle of Croatia. For those who have never heard of Plitvice, it’s lakes and waterfalls make it a must-see stop in Croatia.

We did this as a day tour from Zadar and it is the best decision as there is so much to see! Imagine Niagara Falls diced and ...

... and several customs officials later, they ended up getting kicked off the train because two of them had been in Europe for over three months and didn't have the right permits. It looked like we were in the middle of nowhere at the time. I'm sure they were in for a much longer night than us.

On the second train we sat next to a local man that had also been drinking. He was stealthily drinking beer from his bag and taking smoke brakes ...
