Obviously a remnant of the Communist times. This hotel is set amongst the splendour of the Plitvice National Park. The hotel lacks WiFi and the shower is inconveniently placed in a bath tub approximately 12 inches off the ground.

The rooms at Pltivice Hotel were clean and reception was very polite. We found staff to be very regimented which was disappointing - but we were there to see the park - so not too concerned. However, the location of the Hotel from the bus stop was only a 5 minute walk and again maybe 5 minutes to the Park entry gates. Fabulous location and worked very well for us as we were backpacking.

Driving inland towards Plitvice Lakes national park, through hidden valleys and mediterranean hills filled with vegetation varying from olive orchids, vineyards and evergreen forests. Plitvice national Park is the largest and oldest in Croatia, and also the most visited which was obvious on arrival. It consists of 16 lakes separated in clusters, with loads of waterfalls all around them. Paying an entrance fee that allows you into the ...

... not those of pristine natural beauty. There were several train wrecks observed during the hike along with an ample supply of too-short shorts and socks with sandals. My favorite hiking outfits for the day included 1. a women is small black cocktail dress, 2. a woman dressed like Blanche Devereaux (of Golden Girls fame) in platform heels, and 3. the woman in a full leopard-print onesie. The men were dressed poorly too, but nothing ...

... time it was the mixed grill all round, Mea and I sharing one and the same for Paul and Jules. Paul and Jules dropped us off at our accommodation and it was time to say goodbye as we were catching the early bus in the morning. Meeting up with Paul and Jules was a great addition to our trip, as you may imagine traveling so far from home disconnects you from friends and family and it was great to be able to reconnect and share some experiences. Thanks Paul and ...
