Obviously a remnant of the Communist times. This hotel is set amongst the splendour of the Plitvice National Park. The hotel lacks WiFi and the shower is inconveniently placed in a bath tub approximately 12 inches off the ground.

The rooms at Pltivice Hotel were clean and reception was very polite. We found staff to be very regimented which was disappointing - but we were there to see the park - so not too concerned. However, the location of the Hotel from the bus stop was only a 5 minute walk and again maybe 5 minutes to the Park entry gates. Fabulous location and worked very well for us as we were backpacking.

We've seen Plitvice National Park on TV and always said it would be so nice to see it 'someday' - well 'someday' has arrived.

We took the 2.5 hour bus ride from Zagreb to Plitvice. The travel books said there wasn't much for accommodation especially for backpackers on foot so I made sure to book a hotel room online right in the park . …

In a country full of natural beauty, Plitvice Lakes may be the most amazing of all of Croatia's natural wonders. While the Dalmatian coast gets most of the attention, Plitvice, which is inland near the border with Bosnia, offers sights unlike anywhere else in Croatia, or the rest of the world.

We left Venice around 4:00 pm and steeled ourselves for what Google said was a 4 1/2 hour drive to Plitvice. We'd end up getting there around midnite, owing ...

... the lawn, it was quite relaxing. I think that one reason we did the nap was because I was quit tired (I was fighting a bit of a cold), Paul, Jules and Mea probably did not need the nap so much but I think it was well worth it.

Once we had properly napped we headed for coffee. I had told Paul that in Croatia the closest you can get to a cappuccino is a "white coffee" which I think is their name for a café latte. If you order a cappuccino you get a ...

When the shuttle arrived we were onto the trail first hoping to distance ourselves from the group. This worked well for the most part though we did keep running into a boisterous group of Spaniards as the trails many subloops intertwined.

The scenery was beautiful and if the signs hadn’t specifically forbidden it, we would have gone swimming even though it was chilly. The waterfalls were ...

    ... during a lifetime.

"Croatia is known for its idyllic coastline. But within the interior is the lesser-known, captivating Plitvice Lakes region, the country’s first and most important national park. To visit Plitvice is to indulge in one of Europe’s best back-to-nature experiences.

Imagine Niagara Falls diced and sprinkled over a heavily forested Grand Canyon. This lush valley of terraced lakes is laced together ...
