... been dubbed the most violent city in the world. That title has been shrugged off recently, and the tourist rush is back on.
There are really 2 sides to Acapulco - Antiguo and Nuevo. Antiguo is the old city, where it used to be the hot international destination. I was expecting Acapulco to be overrun by Americans but apparently the resort had bad press a few years ago so the Americans and Canadians now head to Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. It seemed quite a safe place to me. This is probably helped by the fact that the Mexican Presidents two daughters are currently in the town. Armed police are very ...

... and saw everything in about ten minutes, so found the most local of local bars. Decorated with Cowboy hats, shelves of Mezcal and Tequila and rifles hung up on the wall, it was something out of the wild west, with one other drunk guy, and the bartender who had worked there nearly 30 years after having an accident with some machinery when he was younger. Stayed there pretty much the whole night as the bartender gave us shot after shot of Mezcal, fed us tacos and was happy to talk ...
