"Stuck" in Manzanillo

... got some variable winds and proceeded to sail in at around a knot or two. Who says you can't anchor under sail, that's exactly what we did back outside Las Hadas. Thank god I speak spanish fairly well because having to talk to a mechanic in spanish is much harder than just shooting the breeze with people. Turns out our intake valves are shot. I hope that's all thats wrong with the motor ...

Barra de Navidad

... was fine though and we got into the lagoon easy enough. Like I said Barra reminded me a lot of home, big but small town. Everyone seemed to know eachother and said hi as they passed, surfshops, markets, cafes, and shops were all pretty centrally located. We all agreed that this is a place we could definetly spend a lot of time in.

Beautiful little town

... I got some surf in and Helen did a whole lot of relaxing. Our room was literally on the sand. We occasionally had high winds due to a local weather phenomena that happens that time of year. We were only here two full days in this quaint little town but it was long enough for Helen to kick my butt in some pool and take a nap at a table in a bar where we were watching a band. She even forgot I bought her flowers. Some good deeds never go unpunished.

Melaque - A Lesson on "Ejido Land"

... hook was still in its mouth. The boys next step would have been to cut it open and wash out the innards to get at the yellow eggs that are apparently a delicacy. In death, I would like to give the sea urchin its moment of glory. --------------------------------------- ---------------- Feedback: travelswithlobo@yahoo.com --------------------------------------- --------------------- Coming Soon: Colima: Getting Away From the Glamour of the Pacific Coast

Barra de Navidad - The Beach and Malecón

... starkly contrasting choice of beaches. On the west side of the malecon is the start of a 4.5 kilometre beach that extends all the way along the Bay of Navidad to the town of Melaque. (next blog). It is a beautiful sandy beach in Barra de Navidad that nevertheless has two disadvantages - it is relatively narrow and steep. The narrow part would present a problem during the holiday season when there would be a lot of people vying for a spot in the ...

Barra de Navidad - Wow! Did We Like This Place

... is a thought that I don't even want to contemplate. Other than Barbara's one-day bout in Ajijic we suffered no such symptoms during the entire trip. However, we were very careful with what we ate and we only drank bottled water. Our bus line on this trip was Primera Plus which is actually a little more than first class which means that you get a bag of chips and a bottled soft drink for the trip. Suffice it to say that bus ...

Like I said... a mile down the road and we are in Colima, and Manzanillo is coming up quick. There are some beautiful beaches here too. I guess the movie 10 was filmed here. Needless to say it was time to have a rest and celebrate the end of the ride south. Tomorrow we head ...

Zihua-Troncones-Nexpa-Zihua

... the one just been I bussed from Mexico City out to the coast near Acapulco, then north to a neat and vibrant tourist town called Zihuatanejo (said See-wah-teh-nay-ho). It was relieving to see the smog and concrete of the great Metropolis (some say to be the biggest in the world) give way to sunny blue skies, rolling jungle and low-key villages only half an hour into the journey. My nostrils felt the relief too judging by the welcome absence of the daily build up of ...

Heading towards Acapulco

... s packed and I mean packed. At the target shooting game I get hit with a ricocheted pellet, the Tequila stands are busy as are the Taco stands, the rides all going full tilt, and the rock throwing at Cervaza bottles game to win a Cervaza is very intriguing, one rock one broken bottle you win one Cerveza, two broken bottles you win two Cerveza and three broken bottles you win a six pack ! The Mexicans know how to party ! One more intriguing element is the concern for safety ...
