... his own seat, where he immediately fell asleep.
I loved the ride. It was comfortable, short (about an hour an a half) and scenic - and included a complimentary goodie bag of a breakfast bar and a bottle of flavoured water (no plain water available).
When I arrived at the bus station just outside of town at St Miguel de Allende, the taxi driver that was next in line, and therefore the one for me, had a tantrum when I indicated that I needed to find my ...
... tallest hill, to watch the sun rise, only to discover there was already a crowd there getting ready to start the next day of festivities. Not to mention the greasy and delicious tacos we scarfed at 6:30 that morning, right before starting our climb...dinner for (early) breakfast! As Ana would say, porque no?
We got back to GDL four days later; exhausted, dirty, and happy as churros rellenos.
I touched down in Leon exactly on time (11:07 pm). The first person I encountered as I stepped off the plane onto the tarmac was a uniformed man in a balaclava, bristling with guns. We didn't exchange pleasantries.
My Mexican amigo (via Sally), Daniel, was waiting for me inside the terminal. How wonderful to have a local to pick me up at such a late hour! He took me to his family's little country house in an enormous estate not far from ...
Well, I have only been in school one week. Seems like forever.
The first day was very interesting. Lupita and JJoe walked me to school. (I had only been there once previously) It was like I was a kid, but I def. appreciated it. They are awesome. In class I am the only one starting new. There is one other girl who is from Japan. She is fun. We laughed so much. I have 2 classes that ...
... with me who new this.
- Half the people here don't seem to have doorbells. All the houses are very open in the center. So, people will stand outside the door and yell your name. All the houses seem to have a little store in front and then everyone lives upstairs, so knocking does no good.
Bathroom Signs:
at one place, the women's was a ceramic painted moon, and the men's was a statue of don Quijote

I have now been here two weeks. It actually still hasn't totally sunk in. I have so many friends I feel at home. (home is whereever I lay my head)
I have had a great time seeing all the sites. Man this place has a ton of culture. I love it. Too much to list. You'll just have to visit.
The best part of being here is the food. and the people. I am ...
Hey everybody! It's been quite some time since I wrote anything, sorry...I guess blogging just isn't my thing. I've never been good at it.
Last weekend we had company for two nights. Some American missionaries stayed with us who were on their way to Honduras. They all knew Dany and Carminda from before they moved to Mexico. It was interesting to meet some other missionaries. We took them to Guanajuato one day before they left, so ...
With each day that I'm here, my English classes are going better and better. I've typically had between 7 and 9 students ranging from 4 years old to 11 years old. I've noticed that although we can't always understand each other, I'm really learning to respect these children as they are me. What can I say, they're stealing my heart. Since I started teaching them English, everyday we've been working on the song, "Jesus Loves Me". Since it's a new ...
Irapuato, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico julievan... they've gotten here they've expanded the ministries of this church so much! There are prayer meetings 3 times a week at 5:30 in the morning! They have a mens group and a womens group. They have a Friday night service, which now serves probably about 30 people, and lots of children. There is a Children's Bible class, and a newly formed Youth group that meets on Sat nights. Its amazing how much this church has grown in 1 year. Now ...
Irapuato, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico julievan... wealthier than those in Zacatecas. The majority of the students look like Italians with their big sunglasses, matching belts, shoes, jewellery and of course, they walked with that confident swagger. While Guanajuato is noticeably geared towards tourists with a huge presence of police and expensive shops, there werenīt actually that many Gringos around. As to whether this had to do with the time of year or because it wealthier Mexicanos who go there, I donīt know. We spent ...
