... hills of scrubby forest rising up and ringed by mountains in the far-off distance. The scenery was stunning and we were surrounded by horses - what could be better? My mount was an Argentinian criollo mare, and I could tell through most of the ride, she wanted to run. The few times I did let her out a bit, I could feel how smooth her gait was. It was an absolute perfect day - warming up to being hot - and life was good. Suddenly Luka, who didn't speak much English, gestured. "Look!" ...

Well, after a lot of phone calls and emails by Lockie we still have no idea what time we are being picked up. The hotel actually has us booked in for an extra day but not according to our itinerary so not sure what's going on. We are actually in Patagonia at the minute. It is the southern region of Argentina and Chile not a country. We did finally get picked up and had a half hour bus ride to Puerto ...

... set to fly from Easter Island too, in a couple of weeks time. Now that our trip to Easter Island is imminent, we're unable to travel at such an unhurried, gentle pace. We have to crank it up a notch. Minimal planning, lax time-keeping and little direction seem to suit us. This first whiff of urgency has been exasperating and we headed into Bariloche aggravated by leaving both Futaleufu and El Bolson earlier than we'd have liked. Maybe it was our mood ...
