... enjoying our Day of the Dead treats.

The big Day of the Dead Celebration took place over the weekend. The Queretaro Language School organized a trip to Patzcuaro in Michoacan. This town and the neighboring island of Janitzio are famous in Mexico for their Day of the Dead Celebrations.

We left at 6 am in the morning to make the 3 1/2 trip up to Patzcuaro. For breakfast we stopped in Patzcuaro and had a traditional breakfast ...
Patzcuaro, Mexico biwenyi... is my favorite thing in Mexico! It is a beer glass with an inch of lime juice on the bottom, topped with a beer (Corona, Pacifico or Sol are my favorites) and the top of the glass is lined with salt like a Margarita. This is an amazing drink and I have been enjoying them ever since he showed me them. I also tried a torta for the first time. This is a sandwich that is sooooooooooo good.

I keep finding myself amazed at how many trees ...
Coyocan, Mexico skydivechile... wards we headed to The Office Bar and chilled, it was nice because its right on the shore so we can walk over to the beach and take a dip, the only bad thing about the Office bar is that there literally a million vendors passing in front of your view trying to sell you something. Jason said we can just let the waiter know and they would do something about it. But it didn't really bother ...
Los Cabos San Lucas, Baja California, Mexico victki... a first for me!! See photos attached of hotel.

Then time to leave Nige to fly south to Peru. After quite an eventful trip including having to try and sleep on airport benches through the night in Lima airport arrived safe in cusco. First week is to learn Spanish in school with Clare. Slight shock to the system becoming a student again, living in student digs but I'm sure good for me!? See student digs entry for photos and more chat on our time in cusco.

Mexico, Mexico blamethewine... people carrier to offer me a ride around town to the road that leads off to Jerez. The family consisted of three generations – Arturo and Norma, their daughter Eua, her husband Jose and their baby son, Jesus. Within a minute of them dropping me off, Arthur pulled over to offer me a ride the rest of the way. He was a jolly old chap and was a great laugh to practice my Spanish on. Remarkably he had ...
Jerez De Garcia, Zacatecas, Mexico amazingjourneys... to go...he also mentioned that he was raised in LA, but was deported for selling drugs, and then decided to open a drug store just 100 meters from the border...what a nice story huh?...talking about putting your education to work for you. Anyhow, we got our papers, we're totally legit, and it's time to head southbound and down! The road to San Felipe is nicely paved, but the heat was scorching...110-112 degrees, and the temp gauge on the BMW ...
San Felipe, California, Mexico jessandmalin... post. We have been going over to Tom and Angies to watch the races so will post a bunch of pics of all watching the race. Jacques [Jacques and Roxanna] has been finding turtles on the beach [small ones] and bringing them back and getting them back in good shape and the re leashing them back into the water. He has saved 5 so far. We are now calling him the turtle ...
Xpuha, Mexico ironworker025... same time. Soon after taking a shower, Alvaro came to the house to take us to La Quemada, a pyramid about 40 minutes outside of Zacatecas. This place was awesome and the feeling of a sacred place was felt at all angles. Within the surrounding topography, it was chosen to be set on hill that it was on. Tere wer vast and gorgeous views all around the pyramids of rollings ...
La Quemada, Mexico aushiroSorry it's been so long but I finally have a good fast internet connection and wanted to share some pics.... We are now in San Felipe Mexico and only 120 miles south of the US border. It is carnival weekend here and its packed with people but great weather and good times.... Enjoy.
San Felipe, Mexico tambrogdonDriving into Mexico took about sixty seconds. No inspection, no questions, no nothing! Finding a place to park Zoobley in the shade in downtown Mexicali while I went to the migracion office to get my tourist card (formas migratorias turistas or "FMT") took a while longer. Many of the Mexicali streets are one way and the red, octagonal "ALTO" signs seem to be more of a suggestion to Mexican drivers than a hard and fast rule. I eventually found a suitable spot and we were on our way ...
