Montevideo, Uruguay heinlisenka... place round the corner). I had a ganders at the menu and in the end decided to have a "menu del dia" (menu of the day to me n you) which was a Mediterranean salad, glass of wine, dessert and tea or coffee. When it came it was pretty big and had plenty of different things on it to keep it interesting. While I was having my salad I spotted the old guy from out hotel sat at the bar ...
Montevideo, Uruguay oldhamguy... as I promised and only go in the sun in the "safe" hours before 11am and after 5pm. It;'s working out to great for the tan though and we are off to a club tomorrow night so might have to cheat tomorrow and do a bit longer. I'm wearing factor 30 so I should hopefully get a nice colour and not go bright red. ** cut to me tomorrow night crying cos Im like a lobster and can't go out lol** After a few hours in the sun I did a quick hour in the gym (okay 40 ...
Montevideo, Uruguay oldhamguy... paid for a twin room or something. Oh well lesson learnt I guess. The weather was pretty good so I went up to the roof terrace for a sunbathe from 8:30am until 10:30am as I would get told off if I stayed out in the sun after 11am hahaha. He's only looking out for me I guess. The terrace is not great for sunbathing as it has on one side the wall of the rest of the hotel where the sun goes down behind in the afternoon (not that I have been up ...
Montevideo, Uruguay oldhamguy... needless to say. A cute quaint town, it was beautiful at sunset and had a nice chilled out atmosphere in the evening for going out for a meal or a drink. Had heard quite a bit about it but I was a little disappointed by the sights. The historical part of town is absolutely tiny and the buildings while cute are few and far between. Still interesting for its history for an afternoon walking around. No more though. (ii) Montevideo Capital of Uruguay and home to 1.4 ...
Montevideo, Uruguay ray_harrington... puppies and heckles passersby to come and hold their wares. *people dancing the tango at around 7pm every evening in a particular square led by a really old lady jazzed out in fishnets and a fancy hat. *cars from the 40's [literally] either as they were in their good old days [with a bit more rust/held together by the grace of god] or pimped out with flames on the doors and spoilers. you may hear: *the drumming of dozens of people gathered ...
Montevideo, Uruguay ameritapanese... though they had to flood some falls that were meant to be more spectacular than Iguazu. The area between Buenos Aires and Iguazu is gaucho (cowboy) country, with huge estates of cow ranches. From the bus we could see many whole cow skins hanging from the trees drying out in the sun and acres and acres of olive groves. We came down on the way back from Iguazu, as far as Corcordia on the border of Uruguay and crossed over the Rio Uruguay to Salto by barge. I don´t think they ...
Montevideo, Uruguay damosarah... paa Karl Johan!! Varmt ogsaa. Buss!
Montevideo, Uruguay logb... to go outdoors! We thought about leaving at mid-morning, but it was still overcast and ugly, so, instead, we watched a LOT of TV - BBC Visionaries show, a BBC special about Iran-American comedians, a silly movie with Alec Baldwin and the blond girl who played in When Harry Met Sally(?), and, finally, ¨Saboteur¨- Alfred Hitchcock´s first American-made movie with a very young Robert Cummings. I did a few Sudoku puzzles and found some entertaining ...
Montevideo, Uruguay lelblair... a chivito) where we were made to feel very much a home straight away. The holiday home itself was designed specifically for the family and is perfect for socialising- there is a fantastic patio area at the back of the garden which has both a huge BBQ and a wood burning oven. We had some real culinary treats out here over the duration of our stay. The photo you can see here is Uncle Phil taking stuffed fresh bread out of the oven ...
