... suggested that my Spanish class (which consists of just me and a girl called Jen this week) go for lunch at a favourite restaurant of hers, as this was my last day of lessons at the school - I was supposed to be at the school for another week but I cancelled that to have more time to travel round Costa Rica. The restaurant is on the roof of a low-rise hotel and has a fantastic palm-tree-fringed view of the Pacific Ocean. Almost all of the offerings ...
Jacó, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica matt.s.wise... feeding frenzy sounds like a recipe for, no not disaster, an amazing dive and we were not disappointed. Even to the point whereby a 3.5 meter Galapagos shark decided to join us as well for 20 minutes of our 40 minutes underwater - just ask Alberto how big it was as he literally came face to face with it, I happened to be looking in his direction at this point and recall watching him jump in surprise as anyone would! 2/12/08 - I woke this morning feeling excited in ...
Puntarenas, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica michaelandsuzyHi everyone, Well I survived the boat trip from Columbia to Panama (just about), stayed in Panama city for a couple of days and caught a flight to Bocas del Toro on the coast of Panama and now I'm finally in Costa Rica, my last destination, well for this trip anyway, ha ha!! The boat from Cartagena to Panama was an interesting one to say the least. We waited in Cartagena from 12 noon till 6pm for ...
Jaco, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica grimsey... paiono tanto propensi a dare i numeri?
Puntarenas, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica elisaeilaria... us to their hotel or tour agency. Ignoring the fliers thrust in our faces, Junko, JoAnn, and I grabbed our bags and decided to find a place on our own. We noticed one determined fellow trailing us from a distance. After several failed attempts at finding decent lodgings, we approached the man. Ronnie, the soft spoken owner of Sleepers Sleep Cheaper Hostel, gave us our best deal yet. For $6 per person, we had our own private room ...
Puntarenas, Costa Rica jay_and_joann... class they showed me to my apartment and, I hate to brag but, it was swank. It´s brand new with a huge bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, beautiful bathroom with a sunken tub (sunken tuuub...ahhhhhhh) and a dining room. I may never leave here. It´s the good life. I´ve got a canopy adventure tour booked for tomorrow. 3 km´s of ziplines through the cloud forest. It´s supposed to be a blast. Can´t wait.
Santa Elena, Costa Rica friskyc... walked into the unknown....a waterfall with no idea what the water on the otherside was like. Thankfully turned out to be about 2 feet deep and really warm. We all sat there feeling a little strange about the whole experience but enjoying the warmth after our soaking. Sitting under the little waterfall was really relaxing as it massaged the neck and shoulders. It was only slightly disturbing that our driver and guide seemed to just strip to their boxers rather ...
La Fortuna, Costa Rica bshorts... friends, from vic, was staying...seriously, what are the chances!! anyways, we pick him up and head to montezuma where louey takes us on this hike up through waterfalls and let me tell you, this was no easy hike, i don´t even remember the last time my ass got such a work out....haha, but it was totally worth it! when we get to where we are going there is this amazing pool of water with a rope swing and a cliff with a big waterfall that you ...
Jaco, Costa Rica maiamuffin... of a cheap hostel close to the beach at Jaco and direct the driver to Nathans Place which describes itself as the rock and roll epicentre of Costa Rica. We are greeted by Andre, the local who does most of the managing at the hostel, he speaks great english and is very friendly and helpful. He shows us the dorm and we view the windowless, damp, musty smelling room with a slight grimace. Andre notices and says its only because they are using it to dry their washing currently, if ...
Playa Jaco, Costa Rica soul_surfista... to do except watch and pray. There is nothing close to medical care for miles. On the way back down we pass a house from which we hear piano music. All I am thinking is how in hell did they ever get a piano up here. So we go in to see who's playing. Of course it is an electric keyboard set to sound like a piano; stupid gringo (again)! Next door we meet the village elder , Don Miguel, weighing in at 105 years old. His 87 year old wife is near by. I ask if I ...
